Fielding
Primary School and Nursery
Keep up to date with all the news happening in the school at the moment. Articles are added during the week. Parents are encouraged to check regularly. Our weekly bulletin, emailed directly to parents, summarises content for the week.
On Friday 3rd February the Year 5 & 6 Girls' Football team were nervous as they were due to play in the borough finals. The top four schools across Ealing who had been selected were:
The tensions were high as North Primary and St Gregory's games ended in a goalless draw. Our final game would be the decider as all schools had drawn two and won one. We had to win this match by at least two goals to finish top of the group. Thanks to Evie (6S) who scored both goals against St Marks we have won the borough finals. This means that the Fielding Year 5 & 6 Girls Football team have been chosen to represent the borough of Ealing. Officially our girls' football team is the best in Ealing which is a huge achievement! On Tuesday 21st March the Girl's Football team will be competing against the 31 other London Boroughs at the Jack Carter Pavillion.
Massive Congratulations for winning the Borough Finals!!!
Special Thanks to...
Avaani (6F), Flo G (5S), Flo H (6H), Emma (6F), Martha (6H), Lana (6F), Anya (6F), Evie (6S), Lyla (6H), Ruth (6P)
Congratulations to the Year 4 Girls' Football team who beat several schools across Ealing in the football tournament in September. On Friday 3rd February the team played in the Ealing borough finals to decide who would represent Ealing in the London Games. Unfortunately, the girls lost in the final 1-0.
Judging by our Year 4 team the future is bright for girls' football at Fielding.
Special thanks to...

Most children come to school in the correct school uniform but here are some reminders.
School Uniform
All children are expected to wear uniform. Items should be labelled with your child’s name to minimise lost property.
PE uniform
PE kit / 'uniform' is worn for the whole day on a child's allocated PE day.
For more information about our school uniform, follow the link below.
Our Uniform
When purchasing new items, please check uniform expectations.
A huge congratulations once again to the many pupils across the school who have been reading books for pleasure from the recommended reading lists and completing reading response activities in their pink book to achieve bronze, silver, gold and even platinum certificates! The options for these activities can be found in your child's reading record or on their year group noticeboard on the website. We look forward to celebrating further reading achievements next week!
All pupils who attend Fielding are expected to read for 20 minutes at home every day. This may be to a parent, other adult or independently, if able. Teachers check pupils' reading records every day and sign them weekly to ensure that this is happening and will be following up with pupils and parents when it is not. As well as signing their reading record every day and writing the name of the book and pages they've read, pupils and parents are encouraged to record new words they come across and discuss the meanings of these together.
With the support of our Junior and Senior Librarians, we are once again welcoming and running the Travelling Books book fair after half-term. It will be situated in the KS1 library from Tuesday 7th March- Monday 13th March and will be open for business between 8:15am and 8:45am in the mornings and 3:30-4pm each afternoon. We look forward to seeing you there!
Today for the first time ever Year 3 & 4 attended the Featherstone Sports Partnership Sitting Volleyball competition. It was a very challenging competition as the team were only allowed to play shots over the net whilst seated on the floor.
Our teams were split into two groups Year 3 & 4 teams. Each team played 6 games.

Fielding will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 3rd March (the National day is Thursday 2 March).
To celebrate, pupils (and adults) will choose their favourite book character or a favourite book and bring in or wear 3 clues to what the book is for their class to guess. For example, this could include a mask or props, which of course may be home-made.
During the week of World Book Day 2023 (Monday 27.2.23- Monday 5.3.23), pupils will also be taking part in Readathon. Since its first Readathon in 2000, Fielding has raised a grand total of £5381. This has led to many books being donated to much-needed schools and hospitals. During the week after half term (week commencing 20th February), your child will receive a sponsor card, book mark and details on how to take part and start raising money. Please see the film below for further information.
During parent consultations this week it was great to se the interest in our new 'No Outsiders' picture books for teaching equality, diversity and inclusion in school.
Unfortunately some of our books have been misplaced. If you or your child picked one up for a closer look, please return it to school as soon as possible. We’d like to share them with other parents at next week's meetings and read them with the children in class.
Just in case the books are not returned I've added the books to an Amazon wish list here.
