Thank you to all those parents and children who attended the Magic Show on Sunday.  With a packed hall of nearly 250 people, they saw four different acts take to the stage to perform magic tricks, levitation, ventriloquism, hula hooping and baton twirling.  Thank you to our sponsors Sargeants Estate Agents for supporting this event, which combined with ticket sales and refreshment stalls has made a profit of nearly £2000. Thank you to Year 4 parents who helped organise activities on the day!

  • PTFA Cake Sales Return on Friday with healthy twist

    Thu 09 Mar 2023 PTFA

The PTFA is excited to announce that the Friday Cake Sales are returning this week after a break of nearly three years.

Bake sales have been very popular at Fielding and important to PTFA fundraising. However this encouraged children to eat bakes that were high in sugar, fat and also processed.

By introducing healthier bake sales we want to:

    • reinforce healthy eating lessons taught in the classroom - pupils will be able to see the messages that they hear in the classroom put into action;
    • help create a healthy school culture - selling healthier food tells pupils that their health matters;
    • show our children that healthy treats taste great.

Each week a different group of classes will have responsibility for organising the Friday Bake Sale and will run outside the main hall at the Wyndham Road entrance between 3.30pm and 4pm each Friday. The timetable has been organised so that each class only needs to organise one bake sale this academic year. This week is the turn of Year 6 parents. You can find the helpful recipes, guidance and tips on this file in the PTFA GoogleDrive https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zBuHoNJC8bTfe4Js2Z8B-zDl7JwZkdb9/view?usp=sharing.

  • Easter holidays chicken sitting

Thu 09 Mar 2023 Elise Laird

Would you like to do some chicken-sitting over the Easter holidays? We are looking for volunteers for some of the days during the holiday to feed and care for the chickens. Each day you care for the chickens requires only one visit to the school thanks to the chickens automatic door which is safely locking them away each night. Holiday club will be caring for the chickens the other days. Volunteers can keep any delicious eggs that they lay the days you are caring for them.

An online sign-up sheet can be found here. Please leave your email and contact details so that you can be sent access and feeding information. After you have looked after the chickens on the day you have volunteered we ask that you pass the keys to the next volunteer.

  • KS2 Girls' Football Festival

Wed 08 Mar 2023 Natasha Pasha

Today 8 girls' across Years 4 - 6 were selected to take part in a Girls' Football Festival at Ealing Trailfinders. Initially, six stations were set up to support gameplay.

    1. Penalty Shootout

    2. Passing

    3. Dribbling

    4. Messi Football

    5. Robbing the nest

    6. Overhead throw-ins

Then we played three 8 aside games.

First, we played Oaklands and didn't know what to expect which is why the game ended in a goalless draw.

Next, we played John Perryn and had a team talk where we were going to press from the goal kick. This strategy proved to be successful as Liv (6S) scored an early goal which was assisted by Lottie (6S). Then Isla B (4S) scored a great last-minute goal. Therefore the final score was 2-0 to Fielding Primary.

Our final game was against Allenby Primary School. Confidence amongst the team was high due to the momentum from the previous match. This resulted in Fielding once again scoring two early goals one by Mialy (5S) and another by Isla B (4S) who scored her second goal. Unfortunately, we became complacent and Allenby ended up scoring two last-minute goals. Therefore the final score ended up 2-2.

Overall, the girls' collaborated really well as a team and showed resilience when games were tough and respect by showing sportsmanship.

    A special thanks to...

    Isla B (4S), Mialy (5S), Walde (6F), Isla T (6P), Liv (6S), Natalia (6F), Mia B (6F) Lottie (6S)

  • Industrial action, 15th & 16th March: school closed, childcare and Nursery open

Wed 08 Mar 2023 Peter Dunmall

The National Education Union (NEU) is taking industrial action again on Wednesday 15th & Thursday 16th March. As a result of this action, for the core school day:

    • main school, Reception - Year 6 - closed to all pupils.
    • ARP - closed to all pupils.
    • Nursery - open to children, as usual. Children to attend and wear Nursery uniform as usual.
    • childcare, Breakfast & After-School Clubs, and specialist clubs are open as usual. Pupils may attend and wear clothes of their choice.

The risk of not having enough staff to teach pupils in school, including the risk of a picket line and staff not wishing to cross any picket line, means that the main school and ARP are closed to all pupils.

Wrap around childcare - Breakfast and After-School Clubs - are open. If parents wish to cancel a booking, we will issue a credit to your child's childcare account. We are trying to be flexible to support any essential childcare needs at times we would usually be open while giving parents the flexibility to cancel if a booking no longer suits your arrangements.

Specialist clubs - before and after school - will run as scheduled. If your child does not attend we will offer a refund, on request to the clubs email address.

Instrumental music lessons provided by tutors from Ealing Music Service will not take place and are likely to be rearranged for later in the school year. Miss Neil-Smith will contact parents individually when arrangements for each instrument and tutor are known.

Pupils who receive a benefits-related free school meal may collect a packed-lunches for both days from the school office on Tuesday afternoon.

We are not providing remote education because we want to maintain harmonious employee relationships and do not expect teachers who are taking strike action to plan and prepare lessons in advance or teachers who are not taking strike action to cover for their colleagues. Parents may wish to use lessons and resources published by the government funded Oak Academy.

Whilst parents will, inevitably, experience some inconvenience, please remember that this industrial action has met all legal requirements and that teachers do not take the decision to strike lightly.

Some teachers may attend picket lines at the Wyndham Road and/or Coombe Road entrances. Access for pupils and parents should not be restricted by any picket lines.

No further industrial action is planned.

If this period of industrial action is suspended by the union, we will fully open. I will publish any change immediately.
