  • School's Out - deadline for tickets 30 April

    Thu 19 Apr 2018

The sun has finally arrived for the start of the Summer Term at Fielding....and in just over twelve weeks, it will be the summer holidays!
With this in mind, the PTFA have organised an end-of-year shindig just for the grown-ups...and for the first time, it's an event that WE DON'T need volunteers for!
Fielding PTFA have exclusive hire of Charlotte's W5 in Ealing to celebrate the fact that School's Out for summer. The evening on Thurs 14 June includes a three course meal, welcome drink and DJ for the after party.

Tickets have been selling well, but we still have to sell more to secure the venue exclusively - deadline is 30th April, so if you are up for joining us, then please book now at http://bit.ly/2HyY7Is

The PTFA make an amazing £10 profit for every £45 ticket sold, and more with wine, cocktails and photobooth purchases on the night.
So grab your partners and friends for kid-free fun on a warm summer's night.

Look forward to seeing you there!

  • Your views needed: Fielding Kitchen Garden. Gardening & cooking lessons

    Wed 18 Apr 2018

As we get closer to our allotment project, 'Fielding Kitchen Garden', being finished we are looking forward to the exciting new curriculum opportunities this will bring for pupils in years 1 to 6.

We are taking this opportunity to share our initial thoughts with you. We welcome your feedback on the following:

Gardening and cooking lessons, who will have them and how often?

Pupils in years 1 - 6 will have 5* or 6 sessions of gardening & cooking per year. This is roughly equivalent to one per half term.

Each session will consist of at least 1.5 hours gardening and 1.5 hours cooking. Classes will be split into two groups of 15 children for these sessions.

*Children in Years 1, 2 & 6 will not have sessions in the first half of the summer term due to statutory assessments.

    Who will teach these sessions?

We will employ a teaching assistant gardener to teach the gardening element and the class teacher will teach the cooking element.

What will the children cook? Who will supply the ingredients?

The children will make/cook a range of simple dishes where possible using some of the ingredients from the Fielding Kitchen Garden, most ingredients will be purchased through school. Parents will be asked to make a small contribution via Laser each term to cover the cost of these ingredients as per our Charging & Remissions Policy. The children will take home what they cook.

What elements of the National Curriculum will be taught through these sessions?

    • Design & Technology: Cooking and nutrition;
    • Science: Seasonal changes, living things and their habitats, plants;
    • PSHE: Keeping healthy.

    Find out more here:

    What will children wear?

On their gardening and cooking day children will be asked to wear non-school uniform clothes appropriate for gardening with wellington boots. For cooking sessions we are thinking about asking parents to purchase a Fielding apron.

    When will these sessions start?

We are hoping to employ our teaching assistant gardener during this half-term ready for sessions to start after the half-term break.

Please email any comments, suggestions or feedback to admin@fielding.ealing.sch.uk with the header 'Gardening and Cooking lessons'.

Imagine Art Club is now open to children in years 3, 4, 5, 6 the club takes place at 3.30pm on Fridays. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop their artistic skills in a fun and creative workshop.

Imagine are passionate about developing children's imagination through working with a variety of media and learning about main art movements.
Your child will not only explore how to use materials such as water colour, acrylic paint, charcoal, clay, pastels or ink. They will also study works by famous artists and interpret their style.
Imagine Art Club has been very enthusiastically received by children, parents and teachers. It has a great impact on children's confidence and understanding the value and significance of Art in the wider society. Bookings through Laser.

  • PTFA Meeting - Summer Fair Stalls - Mon 23 April 2018 (9am & 8.30pm)

    Wed 18 Apr 2018

The PTFA will be hosting its regular parents meeting to discuss upcoming events along the chance to pick the summer fair stalls that need to be organised. This is a must for Class Reps if they would like first dibs on the stalls options! We will also happily look at other stall ideas during the meeting.

We will be reviewing activity from the last few events, but also decide whether we can justify organising a Summer Picnic (planned for 9 June) which, at the moment, is lacking any interest from parents to help organise. This event will be cancelled unless another four/six parents can be found. Duties include helping to arrange activities like scarecrow making, wellie throwing or just helping to cover the entrance gate.

The meeting, being held on Monday 23 April, will be repeated twice during the day (once in the morning with Mr Dunmall, and again in the evening) to allow as many parents/carers to participate.

The morning meeting is in the school house after morning drop off (9.00am) and the evening meeting on the same day, also in the school house at 8.30pm. All parents are welcome to join us at one of these meetings and it would be great to see as many of you as possible.

The morning meeting is accompanied by tea and coffee. The evening meeting is accompanied by a glass of wine and it would be great for parents to stay for a drink or two after the meeting. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents especially if you are new to the school. We look forward to seeing you there!

Minutes for the last meeting can be found at: http://www.fieldingprimary.com/ptfa/

  • Childcare and Specialist Club Fees

    Mon 16 Apr 2018

A warm welcome back to the start of the summer term. Please be reminded specialist club fees must always be paid for at the point of booking unless using childcare vouchers, once raised these will be received and added to the cashbook within 5 working days. If you have booked a specialist club but not made payment you are still liable for the cost of the club whether your child attends or not.

Childcare fees are due at the start of term; there are two ways of making payment either the total amount in full now or half at the start of term and the remainder by 1st June.

Please remember to check your childcare bookings on Laser, are they still correct and needed?

Childcare continues to roll over termly until parents cancel through Laser, this will then prompt a 4 week notice period. We will remove childcare bookings that clash with specialist clubs without charge, email childcare@fielding.ealing.sch.uk to assist.

  • MUSIC LESSONS IN SEPTEMBER

Mon 16 Apr 2018 Michael Mappin

I hope your child is continuing to enjoy Instrumental Lessons at Fielding.  In order to continue providing the best possible service, I need to make arrangements for September 2018.

Your child's place is guaranteed, if you still want it.  However, some children may decide to give up learning an instrument, in which case, I need to know, so we can adjust the Tutor provision accordingly, and so we can offer the place to a new learner.

Your child's Tutor will be handing out letters this week or next. Please return the form ONLY IF YOU WISH TO STOP LESSONS, otherwise the place will roll over to next year.

CLICK HERE FOR THE FORM, just in case your child's bag has swallowed it up!
