Children in Year 6 had a brilliant virtual workshop, from the TfL STARS (Sustainable Travel, Active, Responsible & Safe) team today. This was an informative session about planning travel, conduct and keeping safe when on public transport. They also talked about the environmental impact they can have in the way they choose to travel.
The STARS facilitator, also reminded children about the Zip card (available 1 month before their 11th birthday): 11-15 Zip Oyster photocards - Transport for London (tfl.gov.uk).
The children learnt lots about the work of the STARS team and are now much better equipped when cycling, walking or using public transport safely to high schools. What a great workshop!
The current Harrisons online payment portal will be unavailable from 31st July 2021. If you are paying for your child's school meals online, please ensure you do not make any payments after 20th July 2021 when school closes for the summer. The current online payment portal will be replaced with a brand new portal provided by BlueRunner. Details regarding this new portal will be issued in due course. If you have a credit balance in your Harrisons school meals account as at 20th July 2021, Harrisons payment team will be in touch to arrange a refund. Please also check your school meals account and ensure any outstanding school meals payments are paid in full prior to the end of term.
Did you know, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive a free school meal whether their parents are in receipt of benefits or not, they could be receiving a whole lot more. If your child is in one of these year groups and you receive benefits, we need you to apply for a free meal because applying for a free school meal is our only way of checking if your child is entitled to our Pupil Premium Passport.
For children in other year groups we need you to apply too. If eligible your child will get a free school meal and the added benefits below.
We receive extra funding for every child registered as eligible for a free school meal. We use this money to support your child's learning, for example through catch-up sessions, mentoring, homework club, Bedrock Vocabulary programme and parent workshops and much much more!
At Fielding parents are also able to have a say in how some of this money is spent through our ‘pupil premium passport’ scheme. Parents and children get a change to preview and book an afterschool club or learn to play a musical instrument free of charge each term. Through the passport children have their very own mentor, have school residential trips paid for and receive books free of charge when authors visit, as well as getting an invitation to additional trips especially for them (COVID permitting).
During any period of school closure you will also get meal vouchers during school holidays from Ealing (COVID pandemic only).
If you receive benefits your child will be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following benefits:
Parents who receive the following are not eligible to apply for free school meals
If you meet the criteria please apply by:
Don't delay, apply today!
Children at Fielding are avid readers, so much so that our current library book stock (particularly in Years 1 and 2) is in need of replenishing. We would really appreciate your support in contributing books for our libraries. These don't have to be brand new but we would welcome books that are in good condition. Below is a link to the recommended reading lists for each year group which you may like to use as a guide but the books do not have to be from these lists. Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond books are in most demand. We would also like to request that you return any of our library books that you have at home as soon as possible. Please bring books to the front office where they will be collected and sorted. Many thanks in advance. Please click here and scroll down to see our recommended reading lists.
Thank you to the 28 parents who joined us this morning and for submitting your questions. For those of you who weren't able to join here is the link to the meeting:
Fielding has a full compliment of permanent teaching staff ready for the start of the new school year.
At the end of this term, Mrs Ridley, Miss Apperley, Mrs Bumby, Miss Mohammed and Miss Olakara leave Fielding:
We wish them all well in the next step of their career and life plans.
Mrs Patel is promoted to maths subject leader, enabling Mr McConnachie to focus on his external work, supporting other schools, through the West London Maths Hub. She also marries this summer - congratulations.
Mr Taraboulsi moves from being a cover supervisor and builds on all of this experience to complete a 'straight to teaching' qualification by working in class. His cover supervisor vacancy will not be replaced as part of our cost-cutting measures.
Miss Allen returns to work as a Year Leader in Year 3 from maternity leave. We are likely to welcome her back into school before the end of this term.
Mrs Hopkins returns to work full-time having worked part-time while her own children were younger.
Hannah Travis and Sdeem Abed join us as qualified teachers. Miss Travis and Miss Abed trained with us in Year 1 and Year 6 respectively during this school year.
Please see below for class teacher information for next academic year.
As last year each class will keep the same letter name, e.g 1P will become 2P, 2P will become 3P, 4F will become 5F etc.
Usually at this time of year we would be planning our 'move-up day' (which is actually just a couple of hours in the morning!). Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions and keeping the integrity of our bubbles, we are unable to do this in the usual way. Instead your child's class will have the opportunity to put together a set of questions for their new class teacher. Their new teacher will answer these in a 'welcome video'. The welcome video and a video of their new classroom and surrounding area will be shown to your children on the 9th July. They will be told who their new teacher is today.
Parents of new Reception children will receive an email on Monday with the name of their child's class and teacher. A welcome video will be shared on the 9th July.
We welcome Miss Allen back from maternity leave and welcome new teacher joiners, Sdeem Abed and Hannah Travis. Miss Abed and Miss Travis both trained with us to gain their teaching qualification.

For our Secondhand sale, please donate any second hand:

Books: Children and Adult books accepted.
Uniform: We will be collecting only new logo uniform with white logo. Please donate grey or black school trousers, dresses and skirts, plus the blue and white check summer dresses and PE kits.

Poop Bingo is back and this time we are using a chicken who will be let loose in our very own Kitchen Garden! So, how do you fancy your chances of buying a square in the Fielding Primary School chicken coop and seeing whether a chicken poops in your square? Well, the opportunity is here!
If you played Reindeer Poop Bingo at Christmas, then you might already know how this works. The concept is:
Just select the square(s) you want to purchase and away we go. The event will take place on Saturday 26 June. We will play the game four times during the afternoon - and we'll stream them via Facebook Live depending on parent availability. We only have 160 squares per game so tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. BTW - We have no control on where the chicken goes.
Get tickets here https://www.tickettailor.com/events/fieldingptfa/536520/
Thank you to RSK on Northfield Avenue for the generous sponsorship for this event.
