  • Specialist Clubs-summer term

    Fri 11 Mar 2016

We’re pleased to announce our specialist club schedule for the summer term. This term we’ve increased our provision by offering 15 new clubs or additional time slots, bringing our specialist club total to 49 per week.

    Key improvements

    • We adapted our club schedule based on number of bookings meaning our club choices were designed around what children and parents want.
    • We are introducing a new Tennis provider who is offering 3 clubs to children in year 1 to 6
    • Our new SOTA art clubs are available for children in Reception to year 6. The club will explore several mediums of art, including art in response to live music
    • We are embellishing our extended curriculum by offering a gardening club for children in Reception to year 4
    • We’ve introduced two computer clubs- Animation club and Gaming development club.

To provide as many children as possible with the opportunity to participate in our specialist clubs, parents are required to rebook all clubs for the summer term. There is no roll over of bookings or waiting lists from the spring term.

All specialist clubs will run 11th April to 8th July. Booking through Laser will go live next week, parents will be notified of the date through parentmail. After listening to your feedback from our Spring term launch, booking will open at 8pm, to allow for as many parents as possible time to arrive home and finish the family evening routine.

Parents will be required to pay for specialist clubs by Friday 8th April. If you experience any technical difficulties during booking or payment, please contact it@lasersys.co.uk

  • End of Key Stage National Curriculum Tests 2016 (SATS)

    Thu 10 Mar 2016

Is your child in Year 2 or Year 6?

If so, they will be taking the national curriculum tests (SATs) in May. The tests will provide information about how your child is progressing, compared to children the same age nationally. They are not qualifications and don’t affect your child’s future options in school. The results of these assessments are used to ensure that we are teaching our pupils the essential knowledge and skills in the subjects that are the early building blocks, Reading, Writing and Maths. This is to ensure every child reaches their full potential. There are changes to the tests this year at both key stages. This is because the tests are based on the new national curriculum, which your child has been taught since September 2014.

  • Visible Learning Workshop

    Thu 10 Mar 2016 L Stabler

    Reminder: Visible Learning parent workshop

Over the last half term we have been continuing to think about our impact on children’s learning through our new ‘Visible Learning project’. Please see the link below for recent article about the progress of this project.

As a staff body we started learning about this at the start of the academic year and have had three whole staff training days on this, which has given us an initial understanding of the elements to this and what makes more of an impact on children’s learning. We have since been trialing techniques and gathering evidence in order to make an effective action plan for the rest of the academic year.

We are all very excited about this project, as it enables us to fully focus on exactly which approaches in the classroom has the most impact on children’s progress. After the success of our parent workshop last half term with our Visible Learning consultant, Laura Kearney we are going to run another workshop. Laura Kearney will not be leading this but staff members who have been leading this project within school will be able to explain the academic research and share what point we have now reached with this in school.

This workshop will run at 9.00 am and 6.30 pm on Wednesday 16th March in the main hall.

We look forward to seeing you there.

  • Nursery Fire Engine Visit

    Thu 10 Mar 2016 T McEvoy
This week the Nursery were lucky enough to have a visit from Ealing Fire Brigade. The children were really excited to see the fire engine and got a chance to sit inside. The children even got wet when the fireman demonstrated how powerful the fire engine hose could be. We had lots of fun and it was a great end to our topic of ,'What can I do with water?'
  • Sunrise to Sunset Football latest news

Thu 10 Mar 2016 Mr Thomas

We are just over 1 week away from the big kick off now and we are starting to hear murmurs in the playground about who will win...reds or blues? Parent slots are now just about full as are all of the after school slots for children. There are however still a few spaces left for any early birds who want to come and play at 7.00am!

As we are nearly at game day we wanted to remind everybody that Friday 18th March will be a 'wear your own clothes day'. Dress up as your sporting hero! Wear your favourite sports kit! Just remember everybody is being invited to play in the sunrise to sunset football match so try to wear something that you can be a little bit active in!

Please bring in just £1 for the Sport Relief bucket on Friday so that you can wear your kit and try your hardest to score for Sport Relief!

For more details check out the Sport Relief page on the website...

  • Year 3

    Thu 10 Mar 2016

Year 3 go on a maths trail

In maths lessons this week, Year 3 children have been working hard to apply their understanding of fractions to solve a range of problems. Children have been given the opportunity to discuss and investigate with talk partners to help them to find the best solutions. It is clear that the children have been making good progress in their fractions work through applying multiplication and division skills.  They are now able to pick apart and work through multiple step problems. The children thoroughly enjoyed the maths trail lesson today where they moved around the playground finding solutions to a variety of fractions problems. Miss McGee commented, “It was lovely to see how much enjoyment the children were getting from solving a range of problems on the trail!”

  • PTFA Cake Sales

    Thu 10 Mar 2016

The Friday Cake Sales are continuing to be such a huge success, thanks to all the reps and class parents for providing the goodies and manning the stall.

There popularity means that some weeks demand for cakes is greater than the supply, so please continue to help support your PTFA with your generous donations.

We know that the sale can be a bit of a scrum and we are grateful for your patience as the volunteers try and serve everyone fairly.

    Thank you

    The PTFA

Thu 10 Mar 2016 Mr Thomas

This week the children attending Mr. Winn's boxing and circuit training clubs have been buzzing about the thought of working up a sweat using some of the schools brand new club equipment. Mr Winn has ordered 3 standing punch bags, a selection of kettle bells, weighted bars and medicine balls and is waiting on a brand new set of boxing gloves and pads!

Mr Winn is very exited about the new equipment and is looking forward to the new crop of club attendees starting after Easter. • QPR and Rugby Club-collection and drop off points

    Fri 04 Mar 2016

Both our QPR and London Scottish Rugby clubs have been very popular over the spring term, with all sessions being nearly full or booked to capacity. As part of the on-going development of Specialist clubs at Fielding, we have been reviewing registration and dismissal of clubs run on the Field.

To help with the smooth running of the clubs we’ve now allocated an end of the field each to QPR and London Scottish Rugby. Now we are in the second half of the spring term, there are also additional sessions starting at 4.35pm, so it’s important we have an efficient routine.

    • QPR clubs will dismiss and register children at the year 1 end of the Field.
    • London Scottish Rugby will dismiss and register children at the year 3 end of the field.

From Monday 7th March, we ask parents not to walk along the Field, but instead wait at their collection/drop off end. Children’s belonging will also be stored in this area. Please follow sign posts at the school entrance for direction.

The second slot of Specialist clubs start at 4.35pm, any children attending this session will be registered at this time, once the first club has been dismissed.

We would like to thank parents for their cooperation with the above arrangements
