URGENT>>>>> CHILDREN COULD LOSE THEIR MUSIC LESSONS NEXT YEAR

Sorry for the attention-grabbing headline, but it really is important that, if your child has had EMS lessons at Fielding this year, you confirm that you want to keep her/his place.  Most parents have already filled in and returned the form confirming this, but many haven't.  THIS DOCUMENT (click here) lists the children who have NOT signed up again for next year, and whose place will be offered to another child.  If your child's name is on the list, please email me BEFORE FRIDAY 8th JULY (click here to email) to confirm you want to keep your place.

    Many thanks,

    Michael Mappin (music teacher)

  • Medication and health care needs, end of year arrangements

    Mon 04 Jul 2016

Please update your child's online health care plan

As we are coming to the end of the school year, we are preparing to make arrangements regarding your child’s medication and care plan.

We will be carrying out our termly update of our medical records in September. Please check that your child's health care plan is up-to-date on Laser and any changes recorded by the start of the new term in September. This completed plan will store helpful details about your child’s current medicines, triggers, individual symptoms and what to do in an emergency.  The plan will help school staff to have a better understanding of your child’s individual condition.  It is therefore vital that the school is kept informed about changes to your child’s medical needs.

If your child has medication in school and it is still in date we will pass it on to your child's new class teacher. If your child's medication is not in date will will dispose of it and notify you that new medication is needed for September.  Any new medication needs to be given into school, clearly labelled with your name, in it's original packaging  on 7th September. Please remember if your child requires a epipen, inhaler or spacer device then we should have two of these in school. All medication should be handed in at the front desk, please do not hand to your child’s class teacher.

If you have any questions please arrange to speak to Ms Lacey our welfare assistant who will be happy to help you.

  • Classes September 2016

    Fri 01 Jul 2016

    Class Allocation September 2016

All pupils will move up to their new classes in September. Over the next two weeks the children will have many opportunities to meet the teachers in their new year groups, they will also be taking part in lots of different activities which will help them find out what it is like to be a pupil in their new group. One of these activities will be our ‘Move-up Morning’, during the morning of Monday 4th July; each class will spend time with their new teacher, in their new classroom

In September children in year groups 1 – 6 will keep the same letter name as this current academic year, for example 1F will become 2F, 1P will become 2P, 1H will become 2H and so on.

Please see list of classes on link below:-

Mr Webb has whole school responsibility for special projects, starting with improving lunchtime play provision.

Former Assistant Head teachers, Mrs Kashif and Miss Biedul, have already left Fielding to further their own careers.

    New Year Leaders

Miss Calver, Mr Lewis and Mr Theobald have been promoted to become Year Leaders, reflecting their excellent understanding of teaching, learning and assessment.  Each of these new leaders has a proven ability to secure high pupil outcomes in their own classes while coaching and supporting other colleagues to improve.

    New subject leaders

Miss Drage and Miss Calver have been promoted to become Science and Computing subject leaders respectively, reflecting their interest and excellence in teaching these curriculum subjects. Miss Drage launches her leadership with 1st and 3rd place wins for Year 6 pupils at Ealing's annual Science Fair, where Fielding has a strong history of success.

    Teacher leavers

At the end of this term, Mr Coe, Mrs Burrow, Mrs Lord and Miss Cookson leave Fielding, relocating out of London to live and teach in other parts of the UK.  Meanwhile, Mr Yan and Miss McGee leave us to further their careers by teaching overseas.  Miss McGarrigle also leaves us to work at a local Catholic school. We thank all of them for their contribution to Fielding and wish them every success in their careers elsewhere.

    Other leavers

Miss Bertram, Childcare Manager, leaves in August for a career change, having very successfully led the development of childcare and most recently, after school clubs. Governors are currently recruiting to this vacant post.

    Teacher joiners

Kate Byrne, Veemi Jhurree, Patricia Sammon and Elli Tsoukala join us from other schools. Jade Davison and Emily Haycock also join us to start their teaching careers.

Most teacher joiners start work with us on Monday for induction and to meet pupils and parents.

    Fri 01 Jul 2016

Find out what we have changed...

  • Term and school holiday dates 2017-18

    Fri 01 Jul 2016

    Make holiday and travel arrangements

School term and holiday dates from September 2017- July 2018 have been finalised and published.

Attendance at Fielding continues to be very high, reflecting the way that our families value their children's education so highly. Please continue to make all holiday and other travel arrangements during school holiday periods.

Our assessment information shows that the more days pupils are in school, the more likely they are to succeed.

"Sadly, pupils identified with a special educational need, including those who have a Statement or Education & Health Care Plan, and some pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds have the highest absence from school when they are the very pupils who need to attend most. The school will continue to work with individual families to improve attendance as required, " added Clare Haines, Deputy Head teacher.

  • Year 1 excellence in phonics

    Fri 01 Jul 2016

    Outstanding results for pupils

Virtually every Year 1 pupil has met the government's required standard, reflecting the school's excellent teaching of phonics (letters and sounds) .

98% of Year 1 pupils have achieved the pass mark in this year's phonics screening check. The vast majority of pupils scored very highly with 38 or more points out of a maximum mark of 40. Overall, boys achieved as well as girls, bucking national trends. All four disadvantaged pupils in the age group, who receive additional government funding through the Pupil Premium grant, also achieved the pass mark.

"This is our first cohort to consistently be taught phonics from Nursery through Reception and into Year 1. Teachers have relentlessly focused on teaching pupils to successfully match letters to sounds. Focused extra lessons, when needed for some pupils, has enabled them to also catch-up, achieve and thrive. I am delighted that so many children will now start Year 2 able to confidently read and spell words ", explained Peter Dunmall, Head teacher.

Last year, 83% of pupils at Fielding achieved the pass mark compared to 77% of pupils nationally.

Fielding's results have risen year-on-year since 2013 when they were below the national average.
