Keep up to date with all the news happening in the school at the moment. Articles are added during the week. Parents are encouraged to check regularly. Our weekly bulletin, emailed directly to parents, summarises content for the week.
Please note that the deadline for ordering photographs to be delivered to school free of charge is 24th November. If you miss this deadline you will need to order directly from Bentley Photographic. If you do not have your child's individual code then please contact Bentley on 01206 395888.
Many thanks to all of those parents who have already ordered your child's christmas cards and gifts. From the purchases made already, we are close to raising £900 profit for the PTFA. The deadline for ordering Christmas cards and gifts is this Tuesday, so if you haven't got round to ordering yet, please do. Everybody's contributions together, really do make a big difference. If you have any problems ordering them, or have misplaced your child's code, please contact us at fieldingptfa@gmail.com.
Harrison's will be serving a Christmas dinner on Wednesday 13th December. They have asked us to find out how many children will be having a school dinner on that day. Please let us know via the link below if your child would like a Christmas dinner (or not!), there are two options, turkey or vegetarian. The cost for the meal is £2.30, only pupils in Years 3 -6 need to pay. Payment should be made in the usual way on the Harrison's website Deadline for letting us know is 5pm, 6th December
On the day all children are invited to wear something festive with their school uniform.
Five parents have been nominated to become our new Parent Governors. A ballot will now be held so that our parent community can elect two parents from the five nominations. Governance regulations for schools require a ballot paper and personal statement from each candidate to be sent to all parents. Each parent has the right to one vote. Sent home will be a blue ballot paper, personal statements and a parents declaration eligibility to vote form. You MUST complete the blue ballot paper and eligibility form and return these together. If these are not together then it will result in a void. Please return your votes to the post boxes in the reception area, labelled Parent Governors.
Ballot papers will be distributed by pupil post (youngest sibling) - please check book/school bags and Royal Mail (where parents are known to live apart).
Next steps:
International rock band, The Script, will perform to pupils in Class 3S and Years 4, 5 & 6 on Friday 17th November.
The performance is a short, pre-Christmas treat to Fielding children, fitting around the band's hectic schedule, promoting their new album and before their next world tour in the new year. The band will play acoustic versions of top hits. Space in the Main Hall and the band's availability limit the performance to Class 3S and Years 4, 5 & 6. If, for any reason, parents do not want their child to see the performance, please tell class teachers before Friday 17th November so that arrangements can be made for them to join classes in Year 1 or 2.
To support the national Anti-Bullying week next week, pupils across the school will participate in assemblies and PSHE lessons with a specific focus on Anti-Bullying and this year's national theme: 'All different. All equal'. Time will be spent with the pupils discussing the importance of the British Value of Tolerance as well as strategies for supporting themselves and others if they think they are being bullied. As a way of making Anti-Bullying a focus across the school, all pupils will be asked to make a pledge to stand up to anyone they think is being treated poorly. This will create a whole school display that pupils will be able to see daily as a reminder of the importance of kindness and tolerance in the school.
There are a number of resources available online to support discussions you may want to have at home around this. The following link is one the school is using to structure some of the assemblies and lessons taking place.

As the cold weather has set in, it has been lovely to see so many of our children wearing their school uniform, including sweatshirts and cardigans, with pride. We would like to thank parents for working with us to ensure your child comes to school dressed smartly and appropriately.
We have noticed that some children have come to school wearing the incorrect sweatshirt, trainers or brightly coloured leggings for PE. So just a few reminders of what the children should be wearing to school each day:
Optional items:
PE uniform (for PE days):
PE kit / 'uniform' is worn for the whole day on a child's allocated PE day.
* Marlborough (dark) grey jogging bottoms are stocked by our uniform supplier, see below, but can also be purchased from any other supplier.
The deadline for ordering products is the 14th November. As so many parents have already registered, they have scanned the images produced at school, so it is not too late to register you child code and order cards.
If you are not happy with your child's artwork, would like to do an additional design for a younger sibling, or maybe even make a thank you card, you are able to scan additional designs at home and upload them to your account.
Any questions, or if you have lost your child's code please email us at fieldingptfa@gmail.com.
The next Music Assembly is Monday 27th November 2017.
It's a special singers' assembly, and we want as many good acts as possible to perform in front of the whole school. Soloists, duets, groups, original compositions or cover versions - all are welcome. Children can accompany themselves, or get one of their friends to help out. Backing tracks are fine, but they need to be submitted in advance in mp3. format. Mr Mappin will be happy to accompany children on the piano, but the music score will need to be submitted in advance, in time to have a rehearsal with the singer(s).
It's important for the self-confidence of the performers that children are well prepared for this, as it can be quite intimidating performing in front of a large group of one's peers.
In the event that we have too many potential acts, Mr Mappin will decide who is to perform this time, and who will have to wait until a future assembly.
Submit backing tracks or ask questions: CLICK HERE TO EMAIL.
Online gaming is hugely popular with children and young people. Research shows that this is still one of the top activities enjoyed by 5-16 year olds, with many gaming via mobile devices or going online using their games console.
We know that parents and carers often have questions and concerns about games, about the type of games their child plays, who they may be speaking to and for how much time their child is playing. The UK safer internet centre has lots of resources for parents including a very useful leaflet that provides an introduction to online gaming and advice for parents specifically related to gaming.
