  • Childcare Holiday Club - Bookings Open

    Tue 09 Oct 2018

October half-term week is fast approaching, the childcare team are looking forward to sharing a fun packed week full of playful opportunities and new experiences. Highlights include a visit to the V&A Museum of Childhood, jumping aboard their brand new ‘A Pirates Life for Me’ exhibition. An imaginary swashbuckling world of adventure and exploration where they will travel from a moody coastal inn to a tropical treasure island in search of sparkling riches. At its heart, a large-scale pirate ship inspires learning through active play. Real pirate coins and treasures bring children into contact with a more authentic world, allowing them to see what influenced their favourite pirate characters. Also, back by popular demand, a trip to Snakes and Ladders, Brentford. Children can explore the huge three tier play frame, role play in the dedicated imagination play area with pint sized shops and let off steam in the outdoor play area with bouncy pillows and multi-sports area! Back at school, the children develop their cooking skills, take care of the chickens and get creative with the many arts and craft activities on offer.

Let us put the fun into half-term, come and join us for a fantastic play date!

The programme is available on the website, please remember trip days are always super popular, so don’t delay book today.

  • Specialist Clubs - Quality, driven by provider expertise!

    Tue 09 Oct 2018

This month, we acknowledge the fantastic achievements of our providers. Mr Paul Harden, our Fencing coach, will not be in club this week as he has been selected to represent the GB Fencing team in the World Veterans Fencing Championships, Livorn Italy. We wish Mr Harden the very best and look forward to hearing the highlights of the competition next week. The London Lens Project is very proud to share the news that our very own Johnny K, who teaches Animation after school club at Fielding on Fridays, has recently gained international success and recognition for a full length feature film called "Await Further Instructions" - The New York Times has given this movie outstanding reviews. Johnny is extremely hard working and always speaks highly of the community and professionalism of Fielding school. So let's all keep our fingers crossed for Johnny and wish him all the best in the months to come. May these examples of success provide aspirations for our children!

  • Reception playground remedial works

Mon 08 Oct 2018 Peter Dunmall

Contractors return to Fielding this week to make changes to the Reception playground including:

    • removing and relocating the slide so that the top of the slide is from the top of the sandpit, sliding down to ground level;
    • removing the two highest platform layers to restore neighbours' sense of privacy;
    • adjusting the green steps up to the highest platforms, lowering them to reach the top of the sandpit.

A retrospective planning application will also be submitted to Ealing Council.  Neighbours have expressed concerns about the height of the structures and noise from pupils.

  • Upcoming visiting author- Chris Callaghan

    Thu 04 Oct 2018 P. Whaley

On Thursday 29th November we are planning another exciting

author event. Chris Callaghan, author of ‘The Great Chocoplot’ has agreed to visit the school to talk to the children about his books. Chris is a great author and performer author and we are delighted to have secured a visit by him. He will be talking to the children to provide inspiration for their own writing and also enthusing them about the joy of reading. This will support the reading and writing that we do in school and we hope it will prove a stimulating experience for the children.

There will be an opportunity for the children to buy a book and get it dedicated to them and signed by Chris. Further information will be provided nearer the time. We are sure you will agree that this is an opportunity not to be missed and the children can look forward to a very exciting day!

  • Value of the Month-Justice

    Thu 04 Oct 2018 L Stabler

Our New Value for October is the Value of ……………………

    Justice

This is a new Value for the school, having been voted for by the children during last year’s Parliament assemblies. The children have been introduced to this Value through our assemblies this week, where they learnt about the pillars of justice being: personal, such as when we feel guilt or shame doing the wrong thing or pride when we do the right thing; social, that includes standing up to bullying or ensuring everyone is treated the same; and global, which might include buying Fair Trade products so people have more equal opportunities. They also started to consider the concept of individual liberty in more depth.

The children will learn more about this Value over the next Month in lessons and in further assemblies. Have fun discussing this Value at home.

  • Fielding Orchestra Auditions

    Thu 04 Oct 2018 Miss Neil-Smith

Auditions for the Fielding Orchestra will take place on Friday 12th October during the afternoon. To be considered for a place in Orchestra you will need to satisfy the following criteria:

    1. You must play an orchestral instrument. Guitarists, pianists and recorder players are not eligible to join.
    2. You should be at least Grade 1 standard. If you are not sure, ask your instrumental teacher.
    3. You will have to pass an audition (details below).
    4. You will have to commit to attending as many rehearsals as you can and all concerts. Rehearsals are on Wednesday mornings at 8am in the Sports Hall (starting after the October half-term holiday).

     The audition:

There are 2 parts to the audition:

    1. You should bring along a piece to play. The piece should show off your playing skills to their best.
    2. You will have a short interview. You might be asked questions like: Why do you want to join Orchestra? What is special to you about the instrument you play?

Not everyone passes the audition but to have the best chance, you should prepare and practise your piece and think about why you really would like to join.

How to apply for an audition:

You should sign up for an audition slot on the sheet, which is located on Miss Neil-Smith’s door. You must say which instrument you play.

    PLEASE NOTE:

    • If you are already a member of Fielding Orchestra, you do not need to re-audition.
    • You do not need to have music lessons at Fielding to audition for the Fielding Orchestra.
    • If you have any other questions, you can ask Miss Neil-Smith in your music lesson.
