  • Cooking curriculum contribution £12 - reminder

Wed 18 Nov 2020 Jane Peterson

We are very proud to provide a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to attend cooking sessions during the school day. An annual voluntary contribution of £12.00 was added to MCAS to cover the cost of ingredients. This is required to supplement the fresh ingredients provided from the school garden and covers all three terms.

However, only 46% of parents have paid and whilst this contribution is voluntary, we cannot continue to provide opportunities such as this without your continued support.

To make a payment, please log into your MCAS account.

Many thanks to those parents who have already paid.

  • PTFA Wreath making

    Mon 16 Nov 2020

Could your front door do with a bit of festive cheer?…

Create your very own festive wreath this Christmas from the comfort of your own home and raise money for school.

Ealing florist Louise Coultas-Pitman (Flowers by Louise and former owner of the Cracked Pot in Northfields) is running a virtual wreath making workshop exclusively for the Fielding PTFA.

Louise will lead a live Christmas wreath-making masterclass via Zoom which will run for 2 hours (the recording will be emailed to you after the session). There will be 2 separate workshops that you can enjoy either with the family or without kids and perhaps get a group of friends to book the workshop too!

The cost for the workshop including materials is £40 (plus £1.50 booking fee) and Louise has kindly agreed to donate £5 from every ticket to the Fielding PTFA.

  • PTFA School Fundraising & Vice Chair Vacancy

    Mon 16 Nov 2020

    PTFA School Fundraising

Fielding Parents, Teachers and Friends Association, Fielding PTFA for short, was set up to raise money for the school and to arrange fun social events for the parents, carers  and children at school. The PTFA has a long tradition of organising innovative and exciting events for all the family and some for the grown ups too.

Last year fundraising activities for 2019-20 were cut short, although we did manage to raise circa £27,000. That money helped pay for the outstanding facilities, trips and opportunities that our children all enjoy including £12,500 for the ongoing kitchen garden costs, £7,000 for the Library artifacts Service for every teacher as well as school trips, new library books and even teas & coffees for the staff room.

Thanks to the constant support from our families, Fielding’s facilities are the envy of other schools and we should be incredibly proud of the tireless efforts by our hardworking group of parents.

If you are a parent, guardian or a relative of a child at Fielding or a member of staff then you are a member of the Fielding PTFA. We rely on volunteers to run the PTFA, to help organise and run individual events and to form the PTFA Committee each year with the majority having full time jobs.

As the Fielding Primary School PTFA is a registered charity, we have an annually elected committee (drawn from parent volunteers) which is generally made up of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. In addition, parents volunteer to be Class Reps and we are also lucky enough to have many talented parents who assist the committee with other jobs such as publicity materials, updating website pages, artwork, event planning, communications, design and sponsorship.

    Vice Chair Vacancy

If you believe in helping enrich the education of our children and have even a small amount of time, as we understand these are tough times, we are on the look out for a Vice-Chair and parents to help support central activities. Please get in touch by emailing fieldingptfa@gmail.com if you are interested and want to find out more about the roles and what is involved.

We generally hold a PFTA meeting twice a term, and small working groups organise each event - everyone helps in any way they can. If you would like to get involved, please email fieldingptfaevents@gmail.com.

Under normal circumstances, our main fundraising events are the Christmas and Summer Fairs. Other events include usually include Quiz Night, Disco, Movie Afternoon, Comedy Nights, Circus, Pantomimes and regular Friday cake sales.

Our class reps can organise class or year group events and fundraisers, and we try to fit in as many different and fun activities as we can. If you have an idea for an event you would like to organise, please get in touch with via the PTFA email fieldingptfa@gmail.com

THis year has been unlike any other and we are hoping to put on activities for children and/or parents to encourage our school community and fundraising for school. Due to the current situation makes it difficult to plan, so we hoping to do a mixture of online events and competitions. Year groups will be choosing what events will be assigned to their group.

If you are unable to make the meeting and have something to share please email to fieldingptfa@gmail.com.

  • Parent Governor ballot

    Wed 11 Nov 2020

Good news, we have three parents who have put themselves forward to stand for the Parent Governor vacancy, this means a ballot:

    • Suzana Howard, who has a child in Nursery & Year 1
    • Caspar Mason, who has children in Years 1 & 4
    • Steven Whaley, who has a child in Year 1

Personal statements & ballot papers will be sent out on Tuesday 10th November 2020. There is a 14-day window for ballot papers and parent declaration forms to be returned to the school, deadline Tuesday 24th November 2020 at 3.30pm. Any votes received after this date will not be accepted.

Due to Covid, there will be three central secured areas for you to return your forms safely.

    • Areas are outside the Main Hall from Wyndham Road entrance, outside Year 1 block and outside Year 6 entrance.
    • These boxes are Fielding blue and will have a sign clearly stating that they are ballot boxes.
    • You can also return these forms by Royal Mail but not by pupil post.

Ealing Council has strict rules about parent governor elections. We would prefer to complete all of this electronically but have been told that we cannot.

    The double envelope system

You will be provided with a ballot paper, parent’s declaration form and 2 envelopes, 1 x small per parent and 1 x larger per family. These will be sent home by pupil post on Tuesday 10th November. If you do not receive these forms, you will need to come into the school office and complete a parent verification form. This form states that you have either not received the original papers or that these maybe lost. Completed forms cannot be sent electronically.

When recording your vote on the ballot paper, please clearly mark which candidate you wish to vote for (please do not mark this paper in any way which may identify you). When you have completed the ballot paper this must be placed in the smaller envelope and sealed. You should also complete the declaration form which goes in the large envelope along with the smaller envelopes sealed. You can return these forms to the designated areas as explained above or Royal Mail.

Electronic documents will not be accepted. All votes are kept in a secure area until the count.

    The count

The count for the election will take place on Friday 27th November at 9.45am.  Notification of the successful candidate will be made known on the Latest News on Friday 27th November 2020.

  • Fielding pupil inspired by assembly to raise money for Children in Need

Tue 10 Nov 2020 Clare Haines

Toby in 2S was really moved by a school assembly held a few weeks ago about children in other countries.  At home he talked about the assembly  and wanted to do something to help, so he set up a Children in Need Duck Race with the ambition of raising £40.  So far, he has raised £645! It is still rising.

His parents are really proud of his efforts and his commitment, rightly so. We are too!

Here is a link to his Just Giving page:

Well done Toby, you are showing our core value of empathy!
