Fielding
Primary School and Nursery
Keep up to date with all the news happening in the school at the moment. Articles are added during the week. Parents are encouraged to check regularly. Our weekly bulletin, emailed directly to parents, summarises content for the week.
Fielding entered two teams in the Featherstone Partnership Hi5 Netball tournament. There was a performance squad and a development squad. In this tournament, positions were selected tactically because in every game the children needed to change positions which meant we couldn’t select the best shooters to shoot everyone in the team had to be flexible and play every position. Prior to this competition the teams only had two training sessions.
The performance squad played three matches during the group stages:
St Johns B |

Fielding A |
5 |
Win |
Little Ealing C |

Fielding A |
3 |
Win |
St Marks B |

Fielding A |

This result meant that Fielding Performance were through to the quarter-finals where they played Little Ealing B which was 2-0 at full time to Fielding. We were now fighting for 3rd or 4th place overall.
Our final game was against Selbourne A who won 4 - 2.
Congratulations to the Performance Squad who came:
4th Place overall out of 11 schools.
Special thanks to … Miral (5H), Alex (5H), Amy (6S), Darcy (6P), Joni (6H), Ella (6F), Daniel M (6F), Ahmed (6F), Joseph (5P)

On Thursday 28th September, Year 5 & 6 boys represented the school in the first competitive event of the year at Hayes Goals in the Featherstone tournament, with both the Performance and Development teams attending.
The performance team started very strong, winning their group with 4 wins out of 4, scoring 15 goals and only conceding once. Moving on to the Quarter-finals, we faced Dormers Wells and maintained the good momentum with a 3-0 win. Three Bridges were our next opponents, and despite a slow start we grew into the game, finishing with a 2-0 win to secure our place in the final. In the final, we faced St Marks and this was an extremely close game with not much between both teams. Fielding took the lead with an excellent penalty and despite our best efforts, unfortunately lost the game 2-1.
The development team had a positive start in their group and were unlucky not to win, only coming away with a draw, despite creating a large amount of chances against Little Ealing. We then moved on to play Three Bridges and again were slightly unlucky but unfortunately lost the game 2-1. We then had games against Dormers Wells and Selborne but lost 2-1 and drew 0-0 respectively.
All the children did Fielding extremely proud, showing high levels of resilience and respect throughout the day and despite not winning the tournament, it was great to see them showcase and demonstrate their skills and this was highlighted by organisers and other schools.
Thank you & well done to..
Performance Team: Yaqoob, Matt, Sev, Oscar M, Charlie M, Tem, Daniel, Ahmed, Rory & Conor
Development Team: Marc, Albie, Zain, Jude, Elias, Rowan, Max, Lucas, Arlo & James
On Saturday 9th December at 2pm - Pupil Premium children are invited to attend a free pantomime performance of 'Treasure Island' at Questors Theatre Ealing.
Check your email inbox next week for more information on how to book this trip.
Fielding took a team of 40 children from Years 5 & 6 to Berkley playing fields in Greenford.
The runners were divided into Year 5 girls, Year 5 boys, Year 6 girls and Year 6 boys’ races each of them measuring 1.5km.
Every one of our team completed their race with many looking like they achieved excellent times too.
We were also very happy to see Marin (6P) coming 1st place in the Year 6 Girls race and Euan (5P) coming 2nd place in the Year 5 Boys race with over 150 runners in both races. This is a remarkable achievement for Fielding and hopefully, we receive confirmation that our children have been selected to represent Ealing at the London Youth Games.
We are yet to receive the overall result from the organisers.
A massive thank you to the following children who represented the school:

Thank you to all those parents who attended the PTFA AGM on Monday 2 October. During the meeting a number of positions were filled for the main Committee, these include:
We are still however looking for someone to help with Treasurer duties alongside a GiftAid Coordinator, an Early Years Coordinator, ClassList Coordinator, another Events Coordinator and Cake Sale Coordinator. Each of these roles take less than 30mins in a usual week. Please email FieldingPTFA@gmail.com to chat through any of the roles.
The uniform shed is ready for the next second-hand uniform sale on Saturday 14 Oct between 10am - 11.30am
If you have any uniform to donate, then please drop into the school office (in a bag). We are also taking any children's Christmas jumpers you may wish to donate.
If you would like to help in the future, there is a volunteer WhatsApp to coordinate sort-outs and sales. Please email FieldingPTFAUniforms@gmail.com if you would like to join the group.
We have some very sad news to report. Yesterday evening our remaining three beloved hens were killed by a fox, which managed to dig under the fence into the chicken coop.
Bess, Matilda and Marcy were friendly, charismatic and adventurous chickens that will be missed by the whole school community. The pupils loved visiting and feeding them during their gardening lessons.
We would like to say a sincere thank you to the many, very kind volunteers that have also looked after the chickens at the weekends and during school holidays.
We learned so much caring for our chickens. The pupils learnt about kindness, responsibility and perseverance.
So many children had a wonderful confidence boost when they finally managed to pick one up.
Along with Arrietty, who was killed in July, we wish to thank the chickens for all the happy memories they brought us. Sleep well.
Teachers have started to talk to pupils in class about the sad loss of our chickens. Teachers are taking special care of children in Years 3 and 2 who have gardening and cooking for the rest of this week and into next week. Our approach has been factual and honest while being sensitive. Parents please be ready to listen to your child and support them at home, if needed.
I am Inviting Years 3-6 musicians to attend an informal audition for our orchestra next week Wednesday 11th October @ 7:45am-8:30am in the music room.
Children can sign up for the audition via the music room. The sheet will be stuck to the door.
Audition
Play a short practised piece. You may be asked why you want to join the orchestra - be prepared!
Please click on the link below for more audition criteria - what instruments can audition and grade.
https://www.fieldingprimary.com/fielding-orchestra/
If you were a member of the orchestra last year, please come along (with your instrument) but you do not have to re-audition - it is just to say hello and play something you have practiced.
I can not wait to hear you all play!
