Keep up to date with all the news happening in the school at the moment. Articles are added during the week. Parents are encouraged to check regularly. Our weekly bulletin, emailed directly to parents, summarises content for the week.
Are you interested in becoming a parent/ grandparent reading volunteer? It is a wonderful opportunity to feel more involved with the life of our school. We are looking for adults who are committed to hearing readers for a minimum of one hour a week (more if you would like).
All volunteers are required to have a DBS Check which is arranged and paid for by the school, and is transferrable to other volunteer roles.
Volunteers will also need to complete online Safeguarding Training in advance, which takes approximately 3-4 hours.
After this, volunteers are invited in to school to meet with Mrs Robinson, our English Lead, to go through our approach to reading and find out which year group you feel that you would like to support. Volunteers do not read in the year group that their child/ grandchild is in.
If you are interested, please contact Jenny Eastwood by emailing the school administration department at admin@fielding.ealing.sch.uk to let her know of your interest.
Thank you very much in advance for your support.

The PTFA's Quiz Night is back by popular demand and will take place on Friday 2 February - so make sure you get the babysitter booked up early as they will be in demand!
Tickets will cost £20 per person or £120 for a team of 6 (plus 50p booking fee per ticket). Your ticket will include a very scrumptious meal cooked (meat and veg options available). We ask that you bring your own drinks/alcohol (including recyclable cups), snacks and any pudding for your teams as usual.
Tickets for the Quiz Night will go on sale at 8pm on Sunday 14 January. The ticket link is https://bit.ly/PTFAQuizNight2024
We are very much aware that tickets are in huge demand for this event. However we have noticed that often several members of a team will be booking the same table at once - which means tickets are taken off sale while the ticket system plays catch up - so don't despair. Tickets often come back on sale 30-40mins later.
This is a reminder for Class Reps and any parents interested in PTFA activities to join one of the two online meetings on Monday 15 January. We'll discuss the outcomes of the Christmas Fair stalls alongside activities for the next six months. Do you want to know what the PTFA plans are for the coming months? We still have quite few events to deliver too and each year group will need to deliver one major event during the course of the academic year (excluding the Summer/Christmas Fairs).
We'd love to hear any feedback and how we can hit our £35,000 target. The two meetings will be held at 10am (with Mr Dunmall attending) and 8.30pm via online Teams. Register for the morning meeting here (Join via https://bit.ly/PTFA15JanMorning) or the evening meeting join here https://bit.ly/48ugLKJ)
Feel free to drop any questions or feedback to fieldingPTFA@gmail.com
We know it can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell.
Being in school improves health, wellbeing and friendships. The greatest benefits come from children attending school regularly.
It is okay to send your child to school with mild cold symptoms: a minor cough, runny nose or sore throat. Children should not be sent to school if they have a temperature of 38°C or above.
What does the research say about poor attendance and pupil achievement?
If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone us on the first day of absence by 8.45am. Let us know that your child won't be in and give the reason.
If your child is well enough to come to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let their teacher know or send us an email to admin@fielding.ealing.sch.uk.
NHS guidance says:
It's fine to send your child to school with a minor cough or common cold. But if they have a fever, keep them off school until the fever goes. Encourage your child to throw away any used tissues and to wash their hands regularly.
If your child has a high temperature, keep them off school until it goes away.
Please check the NHS guidance.
The Royal Academy of Arts is organising their Young Artists' Summer Show and this is open to submissions from schools.
If you would like to submit artwork on behalf of your child, the school is now registered. More information is detailed below on the poster.
The Mayor of London is extending funding of free school meals for all pupils to end of July 2025. This means that primary school aged children who attend a state funded school in London will continue to receive a healthy, nutritious meal.
Some pupils are eligible for extra funding from the government, worth over £1,300 per year. Before the Mayor's programme, these pupils would have received a free school meal based on their family's income. It is very important that these families continue to register for the extra funding:
If you think you are entitled to extra help, please register:

The results are in for our Christmas Special of the TTRS Battle of the Bands in KS2.
In the Years 3 & 4 Battle, congratulations to 3H who scored a class average of 1291 points over the Christmas break on Times Tables Rock Stars. Also a big congratulations to Alexander in 3H who was the top performer in Years 3 and 4 with a massive 16,796 points.
In the Years 5 & 6 Battle, congratulations to 6S who scored a class average of 128 points over the festive season. Another huge well done to the individual champion in Years 5 and 6, Alvin in 6S, who scored 3,921 points.
Class trophies and individual prizes will be on their way to the new champions this week. A big well done to all KS2 band members for participating and fulfilling your roles by showing great teamwork to earn points for your class band.
Since returning to school this morning, pupils were buzzing with excitement as they spoke about the results of the Christmas battle and were proud of the contributions they made to their class score.
Please now continue to practice at home at least four times a week for at least 8 minutes.
If you are in Year 3, continue to practice on Garage mode as you attempt to turn your heatmap green. 'Gone Green' certificates will start being awarded to children who achieve a completely green heat map!
If you are in Year 4, continue to practice on Garage mode if you are still working towards your 'Gone Green' certificate. Please also start to play on Soundcheck mode if you haven't already, which tests your recall for all the times tables in a similar format to the MTC which you will be completing in the Summer term. Year 4 pupils will complete the Unofficial MTC on TTRS in school next week to check our current times table fluency and recall.
If you are in Year 5 and 6, check your heatmap to make sure it is green. If it is you will be awarded a 'Gone Green' certificate this week. If it isn't, get back on Garage mode and go green! Please also continue to have fun testing yourself on Soundcheck to ensure your multiplication fluency and recall remains high.
For all KS2 classes, don't forget to try to improve your rock status on Studio mode once your heatmap has turned green!
Year group battles have started again this week and our next Battle of the Bands will take place over the Easter holidays so continue to practice to boost your speed, fluency and confidence.
For a smooth start to the spring term -
