  • Summer Fair basks in 34 degree heat - raising £12,000

    Thu 04 Jul 2019

    The PTFA would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along to Saturday’s Summer Fair.  It was certainly a hot one with 34 degrees recorded by mid-afternoon.  Thankfully we have plenty of gazebos – loaned from parents, sponsors, St. Pauls and Ealing 135.

    Overall, it was a huge success. We introduced a wide range of new stalls this year including Wishing Well, Human Fruit Machine, Cactus Toss, Swashbuckle amongst others – which all help bring takings up to around £12,300/

    Although we still have some expenses to come in, the big winners were:

    • Raffle – taking nearly £2,000
    • Silent Auction – breaking the £1,000 mark
    • The Bar & Pimms – matching £1500 from last year
    • Bottle Tombola – slightly less than last year but at £960
    • The BBQ – served by Fielding Teachers with £800 sold
    • Ice Creams – with £520 although the heat caused problems
    • Somali Food - £530 – huge thanks for their continued support

    Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    We’d also like to say a special thank you to all of our sponsors (listed at the bottom of this message), the planning team - who spent many, many hours organising the event - and to all parent/carer and children volunteers. The Summer Fair was a success thanks to the involvement of every class throughout the school.

    Thanks to our Summer Fair Sponsors: Robertson Smith & Kempson, Examberry, SMA Lofts, Sargeants, West London Waste and Recycle and a large donation of sweets Gunnersbury School who had an oversupply.

  • Multi-sport playing surface update

    Thu 04 Jul 2019 Peter Dunmall

    Latest plans

    Architects, school leaders and governors shared our latest plans for our multi-sport playing surface during consultation events held this month.  Many parents shared their support for our proposal at our last event held during the PTFA Summer Fair on Saturday.

    Current plans reflect views gathered during our first consultation earlier in the year.  Plans show:

    • location near to the Pirate Ship, broadly equidistant from surrounding residential properties;
    • smaller size to accommodate one 5-a-side football pitch, 2 netball courts and a junior athletics track with run-off zone, leaving 2 existing natural grass 5-a-side football pitches;
    • new trees and other natural planting to the west and south of the playing surface to enhance the natural look and feel of our site and offer pupils more shade during summer months;
    • naturally planted noise attenuation barriers to the west and south of the pitches;
    • tree planting to further screen any light spillage from 4 directional lights.

    Our current informal consultation closes on 8th July at 9am.  Parents may wish to submit their views:

    When the consultation closes, we will finalise our plans and submit a formal planning application later this month.  Construction works are anticipated to take place October-December 2019 with completion and hand-over for school use in January 2020.
