  • Outstanding Orion

Constellation members enjoy half term treat

This afternoon pupils from Orion constellation came together to celebrate their triple success this half term. Not only did they collect the most stars for demonstrating exceptional behaviour and values but they also won the football tournament, and Star Leader Danny, won the boxing competition earlier this half term. “There was a very special buzz in the air this afternoon with the children feeling triumphant and pleased with themselves. It is particularly special to see how delighted the children are to spend an afternoon with their brothers and sisters.” commented Peter Dunmall, Head.

To get pupils in the Christmas spirit they had the choice of watching Arthur Christmas or Home Alone 2 (for pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6). As an added treat, they also enjoyed popcorn and a slice of pizza. “I am so pleased we won! Last time we missed out by just 1 point and so we tried extra hard this half term. I feel really proud of Orion.” exclaimed Mahek, 6F Orion Star Leader.

  • Year 3 - Stone Age

    Fri 11 Dec 2015

    Stone Age Workshop

Year 3 children have been learning all about the Stone Age in History this term. We have investigated various elements of the lives of Stone Age people including; food, home, activities, local environment and clothes. Children also developed their writing skills using our book Ug: The Boy Genius of the Stone Age. We have written a letter to Ug comparing our lives to his life and designed a poster advertising one of his inventions. The children have also had the opportunity to take part in a Stone Age workshop. Miss Allen, Year 3 lead teacher, commented ‘It was a delight to see how involved all of the children interacted with each other to show off all of their learning.’

  • Values Poster Competition

    Thu 10 Dec 2015

    Winners announced!

Thank you to all pupils from Reception to Year 6 who entered this year’s values poster competition. We were inundated with superb designs and high quality artwork; it made choosing the winners very difficult. “Pupils continue to show a clear understanding of our school values. They use our shared vocabulary and live values daily at school as well as at home. The high quality of these poster entries goes to show how important our school values are to our pupils.” commented Mrs Tate, Assistant Head.

One winner was selected from each year group from Reception to Year 6. Winners will also receive a certificate with their winning design and values reflection poster for the month of their design.

See the list of winners below. Click on the names to see their design on a values reflection poster.

  • Year 2 Christingle

    Wed 09 Dec 2015

    Pupils prepare for Christingle service

For the past few weeks, pupils in Year 2 have been working hard to learn songs and hymns for our annual Christingle service at St Thomas the Apostle Church, Hanwell, which will take place on Friday 11th December at 2.30pm. Not only have pupils been practising hymns to perform, they have also been learning about what a Christingle is and the significance it has for the Christian faith at this time of year. “I know that the orange stands for the world, the cocktail sticks stand for the four seasons and the candle represents Jesus.” explained Guy, 2H.

Pupils particularly enjoyed using the computer to research Christingles and from this they wrote their own set of instructions about how to make a Christingle, using a clear step-by-step format. These instructions were put to the test when they finally made their own Christingles on Wednesday.

“We are so impressed with how much enthusiasm and excitement the children have shown about our Christingle service. We are looking forward to another fabulous performance on Friday.” commented Mr Theobald, Year 2 Lead Teacher.
