  • Parent and Carer Drop-In - Thursday 6th February 2020

    Thu 23 Jan 2020 C Chadwick
The next Parent and Carer Drop-In will be held on Thursday 6th February, 9:00am-10:00am, in the school house. You are most welcome to join us and chat to Mrs Chadwick or Mrs Reehal about any aspect of your child's learning and/or well-being.
  • Car parking on yellow zig-zag lines

Thu 23 Jan 2020 Peter Dunmall

Car parking on yellow zig-zag lines at school drop-off and collection times risks pupils' lives. It is also illegal.

Ealing Councils' parking services team have installed a permanent CCTV camera to monitor the zig-zag markings between 8am-9.30am and 3pm-4.30pm every day during term-time.

The camera will replace the Civil Enforcement Officer who used to patrol from time to time.

Most pupils walk, cycle, scooter or skateboard to school. Of the 120 pupils who travel by car, a few park illegally. If you travel to school by car and stop on our zig-zag lines, you risk enforcement by CCTV every day. Please park legally and safely.

  • Home school agreement

Thu 23 Jan 2020 Clare Haines

The governing body have reviewed our home school agreement.

    A Home-School Agreement is a statement explaining:

    • the school’s aims
    • the school’s responsibilities towards its pupils who are of compulsory school age
    • the responsibility of each pupil’s parents
    • what the school expects of its pupils.

This is a simple agreement between the school, pupil and parent which outlines effective ways in which we can agree to work together to foster and maintain respectful and pro-active relationships as your child moves through school.

  • Childcare Holiday Club – Bookings open for February half-term

    Wed 22 Jan 2020

February half-term is fast approaching and as per usual the team at Fielding Childcare club have been busy bees planning exciting half-term activities and trips.

During the summer holiday children and parents were asked to share ideas for new places to visit, the theatre was suggested many times but we were mindful this can sometimes be a very costly experience. However with careful planning and negotiation we are really pleased to offer subsidised tickets for children attending the holiday club. On Thursday 20th February we will visit Waterman’s Theatre to see the exciting production “the Man who wanted to be a Penguin”, this is story of an extraordinary explorer, a curios conjure and pioneering problem-solver who is learning to speak penguin.  This live action is designed to capture the children’s imagination using playful energy and a mix of puppetry, music and songs. How will his story end? Will the Penguin welcome him with open wings to their colony?

On Tuesday we are closer to home at Boston Manor park and playground, there the children will be free to hone their imaginative play using the rich natural resources and the climbing structures-there will be an opportunity to feed the ducks and enjoy lunch in the park (weather permitting).

For the non-trip days, there will be plenty to do here at school, adventurous recipes for cooking, craft, messy activities and team games to keep children engaged and happy.

Please see the programme for more details.

Why not let your children enjoy the big play date? Just a gentle reminder trip days are super popular so book today to avoid disappoint.

Please do be careful when booking, as we are unable to cancel, swap days or refund once holiday club bookings are made.

  • Keeping your child safe online: TikToK, is your child using this app?

Sun 19 Jan 2020 Clare Haines

Did you know the app TikTok has an age rating of 13+?

Some of our children in key stage 2 have told us that they are accessing this app.

    What is TikTok?

TikTok is a video-sharing social media app available on iOS and Android which lets users create, share, and view user created videos much in a similar manner to Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. It’s main draw, however, is that users can record and upload bite-sized looping videos of themselves lip-syncing and dancing to popular music or soundbites, often for comedic effect, which can then be further enhanced with filters, emojis and stickers. TikTok has been designed with the young user in mind and has a very addictive appeal. At the beginning of 2019 it skyrocketed in popularity to become the iOS store’s most downloaded app with over 33 million downloads. Estimates suggest that it now has anything between 500 million and over 1 billion monthly active users worldwide.

How can you check your child is safe?

Look at the suggestions on the attached poster or log onto the National Online Safety website here to find out more.

  • Recommended Reading List Fund up to £3,821

    Thu 16 Jan 2020

The PTFA Recommended Reading List Weekly Tracker has been updated this week and now stands at £3,821. Thank you to the three parents who have donated over the last seven days. Your support is truly welcomed.

We'd obviously like to get the fund to its £5,000 target so that we can hand over the money to buy new library books for the school library following last years' announcement that 80% of Fielding's Library Books were classified as 'Condemned'.

If you are able to donate, either scan the QR code with your phone on the weekly tracker banners at each school entrance, donate via https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8gmxwZI8ZG or purchase one of the books yourself and ask your child(ren) to bring it into the school office and highlight the value of giving.
