  • Visible Learning Update

    Thu 12 Oct 2017

    SOLO Taxonomy

This half term, pupils have been introduced to SOLO Taxonomy in all classes from Nursery to Year 6. SOLO is a model of learning that makes learning outcomes visible to pupils and teachers. There are 5 levels of learning: Pre-structural, Uni-structural, Multi-structural, Relational and Extended Abstract. Knowing these 5 levels of learning, pupils are able to self-assess where they are in their learning and identify their next steps. Teachers support and move learning on through questioning. Questions are tailored to meet the needs of each pupil, depending on which level of learning they are at.

When you are looking through your child's English and maths books at home, ask them about SOLO Taxonomy. You may also see the related symbols next to some of their work. Find out more here.

  • Christmas Cards

    Thu 12 Oct 2017

It's time to start thinking about Christmas! This year our cards will be produced by Chameleon Create www.chameleoncreate.co.uk. Our children will be creating their artwork next week in class and these will be sent directly to the company from school. Next week your child will bring home an information leaflet and unique registration code, which you will need to register on-line, by the 27th October (this does not commit you to purchasing anything).

Once your child's code is registered, their artwork will be scanned by the company and you will be able to view it on-line (around the 7th November). If you would prefer to change their picture, or add additional designs for them or other family members, we can provide you with additional codes and you can upload their artwork from home. You can also personalise the greeting cards and add an array of foil templates.

Purchases can ONLY be made via the company's on-line shop and the PTFA will receive a donation from every sale made. All orders need to be placed by the 14th November and we have an estimated dispatch date of the 28th November, in time for the international Christmas post!

  • The PTFA AGM

    Thu 12 Oct 2017

A huge thank you to the 70 people who attended the AGM last Monday. It was fantastic to see so many parents, so enthusiastic about the PTFA and our school community. Thank you for all your comments on the night and in response to our email, following the meeting.
There were many new ideas for events, fundraising and how we can run more effectively in the future. A decision was made to elect the roles required for the PTFA to continue as a charity (a chair, treasurer and general secretary) and then have the remainder of the committee as non-elected members. Details of the new committee will go up shortly, in the PTFA section of the school website.

We are also aware that there were other parents, who are keen to be involved but were not able to attend the AGM. If you would like to help, either on a regular basis as part of the committee, or to be part of a team organising an event please let us know. We also realised we are very fortunate to have parents with many useful skills and perhaps we could tap into this expertise. If you have any specific skills, (for example IT, communications, event management, publicity, PR, accountancy) or relevant experience or connections that you could see being helpful please get in touch or come to our next PTFA meeting, on Monday.

  • Muddy Hands growing from strength to strength

    Wed 11 Oct 2017

During the summer term, Ealing in Bloom judges visited to view the garden area maintained and developed by the children in the Muddy Hands Gardening Club. They were extremely impressed during the tour led by the children, so much so they stayed a little longer than planned! The children shared a portfolio of drawings and photos of the gardens demonstrating how it had grown over the past year.

Last week at the annual 'Ealing in Bloom' awards ceremony their horticultural achievements were recognised. The children were very excited and pleased to scoop 3rd place in the schools category.

A huge well done Muddy Hands Gardening club!
