Parent feedback about home learning at Fielding has always been mixed. Some believe the school sets too much, others too little. We are working to adapt our policy to maintain high-engagement in reading/phonics and Times Tables Rockstars and ensure that any other additional tasks are beneficial.
You can find information about our current procedures here.
Top education researchers tell us that homework has little impact for primary age pupils, unless it requires children to rehearse and practise.
Share your views about home learning at Fielding here by the 3rd July.
Our assessment ‘widget’ has been updated. As well as showing baseline (end of previous key stage) and assessment point 1 (January) information for reading, writing and mathematics It will now show end of year teacher assessments for:
You will be able to access these assessment from July 11th in MCAS (this is a new date).
Find out more about the changes and how to access the assessment information here:
Assessment data will be published at the same time as annual reports, 11th July for Nursery to Year 5 and 12th July for Year 6 – find out more about annual reports and how we have assessed your child here:
Assessment information for all subjects other than reading, writing and mathematics is not directly comparable to previous years in school.
You will have an opportunity to discuss your child’s assessment outcomes with your child’s class teacher at the summer term parent consultation meetings.
Find out more about assessment in each year group here
Please see below for class teacher information for next academic year.
Each class will keep the same letter name, eg 1P will become 2P, 2P will become 3P, 4F will become 5F etc.
Children will meet their new class teacher on Friday 30th June during 'Move-up' morning, with the exception of 2H who will meet their new teacher later in the week.

We wish them all well in the next step of their career and life plans.

Teacher changes
Teacher joiners
Four experienced teachers and three teachers at the start of their career join us:
Teachers and classes
We think about lots of different things when allocating teachers to year groups and classes to teachers. All senior staff, including Mrs Chadwick (SENDCo) share their views. These factors include:
Are you able to help collect raffle tickets at the school entrance in the week before the Summer Fair. We are looking for volunteers to cover either a drop-off (between 8.20am - 9am) or pick-up (3.20pm - 4pm). It's a great way to engage with the wider parent community and see familiar faces at the same time. The role is pretty straightforward. You'll need to oversee the Collection Boxes and return them to the school office....plus your child(ren) can help you too - and it could count towards their Baccalaureate (Silver or Gold). Sign up for a 40mins slot. https://fieldingprimaryptfa.ivolunteer.com/rafflecollection#
We received hundreds of entrants for the school Anti-bullying poster competition. The Anti-Bullying Ambassador pupils from years 4, 5 & 6 have been through looked at all the posters and have completed the difficult task of judging the winners for each category. The standard has been high and shows how well pupils throughout school have a knowledge of standing up to bullying and the nine protected characteristics:
The winners are for each category are:
Category 1: Nursery and Reception – Ivy (RS)
Category 2: Years 1 and 2 – Zaineb (2H)
Category 3: Years 3 and 4 – Isabelle (4H)
Category 4: Years 5 and 6 – Ella (6S)
A huge well done to everyone who entered the competition!
In the run up to the summer fair, please drop donations of used uniforms in good clean condition off at the school office. We are looking for branded items in particular but accept all uniform items EXCEPT old logo (yellow) items and shoes.
Please note that due to the proximity to the summer fair, the scheduled sale on the 23rd June will *not* take place.
Saturday 8th July is the annual School Disco Day and this year we are offering a disco for the kids in the school hall with snacks and drinks available to purchase, and a refreshment area for the adults outside. The disco is free and tickets are not needed, but a voluntary £1 donation for each child would be appreciated and can be given at the door.
Timings are as follows:
Reception & Year 1: 1pm – 2.10pm
Year 2 & 3: 2:30pm - 3:40pm
Year 4 & 5: 4pm – 5:10pm
Year 6: 5:30pm – 7pm
Only children for correct year groups can enter the disco at that time. Children remain parents’ responsibility at all times; at least one adult per five kids please. We look forward to seeing you there!
Volunteers will be needed on the day. Please contact the PTFA if you help on the day – fieldingptfa@gmail.com

All events will take place on the MUGA in the main playground. Please can we ask parents to remain outside the fenced area.
Next week, we are expecting a heatwave so children must be wearing sun cream, and hats and have their water bottles. If temperatures are exceptionally high, we will reduce the intensity of the activities and reduce the number of events to shorten the day.
If your child's sports day is during the afternoon please can you enter via the school office. During the morning sessions, you may wait in the playground after drop-off.
Please see attached KS1 & KS2 the schedule for the day. Nursery and Reception do not require a schedule as they are competing in four events.
In KS2, we have had running heats in PE lessons to decide the fastest runners for each constellation across each year group. Therefore, we will be hosting the boys' and girls' sprint finals after their rotation of activities.
If your child is a Year 5 and 6 Sports Captain they will be required to be in their PE kit all week when running events.
Finally, time permitting we are hoping to host a parents' vs teachers' race. If you are interested in participating please email pe@fielding.ealing.sch.uk
