    • ‘Understanding how our own childhood experience can affect us as adults’ (Self-awareness)
    • ‘Helping children to manage their behaviour with clear boundaries, praise, rewards, fair penalties etc’. makes life more enjoyable for parents and children. (Positive Discipline)
    • ‘Children who are treated with empathy and respect will learn to be empathic and respectful towards other people’ (Empathy)

  • Improving children’s lunchtime experience

Thu 07 Dec 2023 Clare Haines

We are continuing to look at ways to improve children's dining experience at lunchtime.  This includes a focus on children eating healthily, reducing food waste and using their knives and forks well.

We are really pleased to see lots more pupils are now regularly eating vegetables and choosing heathy salad options.

After the half-term break we reorganised the tables to reduce movement, creating a calmer atmosphere while children are eating, this is working really well. We are also really pleased to see the children persevering with selecting and using the correct cutlery for their meal each day.

This week we introduced a 'top table' for each class.  Each day our fantastic dining room team will select a table in each class who have shown the value of respect and have the  best table manners. Today the children enjoyed seeing who's table had been set as the 'top table'  for their class!

  • Year 3 WOW day - Stone Age Workshop

Sun 03 Dec 2023 Davina Paul

This term in Year 3 we have been learning about prehistoric Britain in History. We had the pleasure of inviting Dantastic Education to take the children on a journey to visit the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages. Dan hosted the event and it really brought the children's learning to life. They were really excited to learn more and it was amazing how so much information was shared during the session. He showed them artefacts and made noises that they might have heard during that time period. The workshop was a huge success and the children learnt lots of new facts about it!

  • Sports Captains

Sun 03 Dec 2023 Natasha Pasha

On Monday 27th November, the Year 6 Sports Captains attended their first Sports Leadership training session run by the Featherstone Sports Partnership.

The training program aims to prepare the children for running a sporting event called Project Active on 1st February 2024. By the end of the program, the children will know how to give clear instructions, project their voices to be heard by other children, and learn how to motivate others to participate.

At the end of the event, one child will be chosen by other PE teachers from the local schools attending the event to receive an award from the Sports Partnership.
