  • No positive test results reported

Mon 21 Dec 2020 Peter Dunmall

No positive test results for coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported to school over the weekend.

Please tell school if your child had symptoms up to midnight on Sunday 20 December followed by a positive test result. We will then trace any close contacts from time in school:

Pupils and/or staff may still be waiting on test results. At the end of last week, results were taking several days to be received.

  • Nursery, further confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19)

Sat 19 Dec 2020 Peter Dunmall

We have been advised by Public Health England of confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the Nursery. 1 more member of staff who works in Nursery and 2 Nursery pupils have tested positive. We wish them well.

Close contacts are already self-isolating at home. There is no further action or change in self-isolation for these people:

    • Nursery staff, who are already self-isolating at home;
    • Nursery pupils, who are already self-isolating at home.

There are no other close contacts from school.

We know that you may find this worrying but we are continuing to monitor the situation. We are increasingly confident that these cases are contained within our Nursery and/or childcare 'bubbles'. We are working with Public Health England, following their requirements for schools and have informed the local authority.

  • PTFA raises nearly £7,500 from Xmas Activities

    Fri 18 Dec 2020

Although the traditional Christmas Fair was cancelled this year, the PTFA managed to pull out all the stops to create a host of activities to help raise much needed funds. The two big winners were the Reindeer Poop Bingo and the Christmas Raffle - both raising in excess of £3,000 each, while other activities included Wreath Making Workshops, Christmas Trees, Cheese & Wine Tasting, Lego Mini Figures, Biscuit Decorating, Bauble Decorating Kits, Secret Gift Shop and Keyrings.

Thank you to all the parents who helped pull these activities together or donated prizes.  A special thanks to the core PTFA Events team who have done themselves proud.

We realise that it has been a tough year for all parents, but the support you have given by taking part in these activities has set us on a good path towards our £28,000 target.  These funds help maintain the running of the Kitchen Garden for all year groups, along with bulk funding for extra curricular activities.

Have a wonderful Christmas break and we look forward to bringing you some special fundraising events in the new year.

    Nolan O'Connor - PTFA Chair.

  • Confirmed case of COVID-19 in school class 1F

Fri 18 Dec 2020 Clare Haines

We have been told that there has been a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in school. A child in 1F has tested positive for COVID-19. We wish them a speedy recovery.

Close contacts have been identified and contacted separately by email message today, these are:

    • Class 1F

    • 2 additional pupils in 1S who were in the same phonics group and in close contact.

They have all been advised to self-isolate for 10 days. Pupils who are self-isolating will learn at home from today returning to school at the start of the new term.

We know that you may find this worrying but we are continuing to monitor the situation. We are working with Public Health England and have informed the local authority.

The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID-19

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via:

All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 10 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.

    Further information is available at:

The 10-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill.

Household members should not go to work, school or public areas and exercise should be taken within the home.

If you require help with buying groceries, other shopping or picking up medication, or walking a dog, you should ask friends or family. Alternatively, you can order your shopping online and medication by phone or online.

Household members staying at home for 10 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community

If you are able, move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period.

    Symptoms

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

    • a new continuous cough

    • a high temperature

    • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

If anyone does develop symptoms, you can seek advice from the nhs.uk website at:

If you are concerned about your child’s symptoms, or they are worsening you can seek advice from NHS 111:

    How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19. Do:

    • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds

    • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

    • wash your hands as soon as you get home

    • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

    • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

  • Where will the reindeer poop? - Watch live, Thursday 17 December 9.30am

Wed 16 Dec 2020 Clare Haines with PTFA update

Today is the big day when the reindeer visit Fielding Primary School so that we can play Reindeer Poop Bingo!

All being well, we will be live streaming from 9.30am until 11.30am - unless we have three winning poop squares well before the end of the session.

There will be two reindeer on site, however we will only pick one reindeer as The Pooper.  The choice of reindeer will be down to Mr Dunmall.  The second reindeer is as a backup!

PTFA Chair - Nolan O'Connor - will be providing some live commentary to help guide watchers through the game. So if you are self isolating with the children or just fancy wasting a few hours listening to Nolan drone on. Join the live broadcast through Microsoft Teams - however you won't need to log into your child's class group. You can either run it through your web browser, or through Microsoft Teams App (if you already have this).

Children in Y1-Y6 will be able to see the reindeer during morning break time.
