  • Online safety- what the children have told us

    Fri 22 Nov 2019 L Stabler

Online Safety findings from health related behaviour survey:

During Autumn 1, Year 4 and Year 6 pupils took part in a confidential online Health related behaviour survey. The survey’s results provided us with data regarding a range of areas such as healthy eating, physical activity and staying safe, which included online safety. We talk about online safety in our computing lessons but also specially teach how to stay safe as part of our PSHE curriculum.  We will use some of the data on online safety (please see below) from the survey to inform our staying safe units in PSHE for Years 4, 5 and 6 during Spring 1.

There are some key percentages in terms of the number of children with access to the internet and how many are regularly using apps that we thought we would share so you can keep having staying online safe conversations at home. Please see the NSPCC Net Aware and Share Aware pages for further guidance on keeping your children safe and keeping them informed of possible dangers.

    Thank you

  • Ealing food bank donation success

    Fri 22 Nov 2019 L Stabler

    Supporting Ealing bank

Last Friday, we held our collection for Ealing foodbank. This was our local charity that the children had chosen through our Eco committee, Values Action group and Parliament assemblies to support this year. The enthusiasm and support from children and families was over whelming. We raised £300 to give to the foodbank as a cash donation and a huge collection of food and non-food items. Our donation was so large that the volunteer from the food bank had to return more than once to collect it all. It was so wonderful to hear the children talking about why they had bought their items in and how well they were showing our core Value of empathy.

    Thank you

Fielding played their second fixture in the Peal Shield and RSK Cup today on the school field. The girls played very well and were unlucky not to win a game which ended 1-1. The boys were excellent and won 5-0. Both games will have a full report written by two of our brilliant footballers very soon. Head over to the PE page to read it once it is complete.

  • Funds needed after audit condemns 80% of school books

    Thu 14 Nov 2019 PTFA

Reading and fostering a passion for books is the most powerful gift we can give a child. So, behind the scenes, the school requested an audit by independent librarians over the summer holidays to review our library stock. Shockingly, 80 percent of stock was said to be out-of-date or unsuitable.

As a result, the school has invested time and money (£40,000) in updating our school book stock over the summer, which hopefully you will have noticed coming home in your children's book bags.

To support this, Fielding PTFA set up a fund to raise money to buy books for the school. We are halfway to our target, so please help us to continue to keep relevant and interesting books, that inspire and spark joy in our children in the love of reading, by supporting the school in this. Any donation, however big or small, will help:

📚 Donate money using the online link http://www.bit.ly/FieldingRecommendedReading

📚 Purchase a book from the reading list from any good book retailer and drop it into the school office.

📚 If you have any books from the reading list at home that you wish to donate, also drop them off at the school office.

The recommended reading list by year group is available at http://www.fieldingprimary.com/library-books-wish-list/
