Wed 22 Jun 2022 Clare Haines

The quickest way to get a message to, or to ask your child's class teacher a question is to send a message via the admin email address: admin@fielding.ealing.sch.uk.

The .307@fieldingprimary.com email addresses linked to Microsoft Teams are not monitored.

🗣A reminder of our communication channels:

We have three main channels of communication:

📰 Latest News , this published on our website and updated throughout the week, we make sure that nothing is time critical as all of the week's news is published to you at the end of each week via email in our bulletin.

💻Year Group Noticeboard, this is where you will find information that is relevant to your child's year group. This is updated frequently by class teachers.

📧 Direct email, we use this if we need to communicate something to just you, for instance if it is about your child's class or your child, or a reply to an email you have sent us.

We know different people like to receive information in different ways, so our other methods of communication are a copy of what gets published in Latest News.

    • twitter,  Facebook and MCAS alerts are a live feed of Latest News articles as they are published.
    • Microsoft Teams is used for remote teaching, this is not a communication channel for parents.
    • PTFA WhatsApp groups are not official channels pf school communication, these are linked to PTFA events & communication.

Any general questions about school routines or events, for teachers or the admin team or any other member of staff should be directed to the admin email address so that we can quickly direct it to where it needs to go admin@fielding.ealing.sch.uk

There is a huge amount of information on our website. Which at times probably feels overwhelming, especially when trying to find information quickly. I have updated our  short FAQ document with some of the most common questions we are asked, along with a direct link to the relevant page on our website:

  • Fielding win Silver at Women's Euros Football

Wed 22 Jun 2022 Dan Thomas

On Tuesday, Fielding took the Year 5&6 girls football team to Spikes Bridge Park to compete in a special Women's Euros Football Competition to get the girls inspired for the main competition this Summer. Each school was drawn a country which they would represent and we had the pleasure of representing France.

We were drawn in a group with Sweden (Allenby), England (Dormers Wells) and Spain (Oaklands B) and were due to play Sweden first. It was a nervy first game as the girls finished 0-0. This was trend in the first few games with the other schools too as the opening 3 games of the group finished 0-0. Our second game was against England and we found our stride in this game as we won 2-0. We then went into our final game against Spain, represented by Oaklands B and beat them 2-0 as well to top the group.

In the Quarter Finals we were drawn against Italy (Woodlands Academy) and although we put on a lot of pressure struggled to score. We eventually did and won 1-0 to go through to the semi finals.

Mount Carmel who were representing Belgium awaited us in the semi finals. Our girls were excellent and raced to a 3-0 win to set up another cup final against Oaklands A.

The Women's Euros Final was to be played out by France, represented by our girls and Germany, represented by Oaklands A. It was a great game and although we were under pressure we did an excellent job defensively to frustrate the Oaklands attack. After 12 minutes of play the final whistle was blown and it was 0-0 and went to extra time. Extra time started and again we were under pressure but this time we couldn't keep them out and they went 1-0 up. After that, we lost a little bit of concentration and eventually lost the game 3-0.

A huge well done to the girls football team though for reaching yet another cup final. Just a shame we have met an extremely strong Oaklands team each time!

  • Fielding win APNA football competition

Mon 20 Jun 2022 Dan Thomas

On Friday, Fielding took 2 5 a-side teams to Norwood Hall to compete in the 21st APNA football competition. This is one of the major football competitions of the year and so we were excited to use it to try to bounce back from last weeks disappointment of losing the Peal Shield Final.

We named our teams Adidas and Nike based on the kits they were wearing and Team Adidas were kicking off first. They had Khalsa A in their first game and started strong with a 5-0 win. Team Nike then started off their day against Downe Manor A with a 1-0 win too.

Round 2 saw Team Adidas up against Oaklands B in a game where they were wasteful in front of goal but still came out with a 2-0 win. Team Nike then had Khalsa B and built on their first win with a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Game 3 for Team Adidas was Tudor B in which they were ruthless in attack as they went on to win 10-0. In Team Nike's third game of the group they played Lady Margaret A and won 2-0.

Both teams finished top of their groups and so qualified for the last 16 of the competition knowing that now only the winners would progress and stay in the competition. Team Adidas were drawn against West Acton A and had some terrible luck in the opening minutes as our goalkeeper went off injured. We stayed resolute and went on to win 5-0. Team Nike had St. John's A in front of them for a place in the quarter finals and won a very open game 4-2.

Team Adidas then had to play Wolf Field A in the quarter final. We were disappointed to learn that our goalkeeper would be out for the rest of the competition so again we had to adapt and be resilient in our attempt to progress. The boys were fantastic again and won 7-1 to qualify for the semi final. Team Nike were drawn against tournament favourites St. Mark's A, who were confident after last weeks Peal Shield victory. That confidence wasn't misplaced after they beat us 5-0.

It was just Team Adidas left now who had Oaklands A in the semi's. The heat was starting to get to us now and even though we had been staying hydrated and resting under our gazebo we were understandably getting tired. The game ended 0-0 and so went to penalties. We held our nerve and won 4-3 to go through to the final.

The final was to be a re-run of last weeks Peal Shield final against St. Mark's A who again had been very good all day. We had some time to plan for the final game, came up with a game plan and talked it through as a team. It was a tense game but we eventually found a break through to go 1-0 up. We just had to see the game out now and stay true to our game plan. The boys were superb and the final whistle blew at 1-0 to Fielding.

Both of our teams were ecstatic with the result and felt extremely proud to be crowned 2022 APNA Champions. A huge well done to all involved!

  • Fielding crowned Boys Cricket Champions

Thu 16 Jun 2022 Dan Thomas

On Thursday, Fielding took the Year 5&6 Boys Cricket team to Spikes Bridge for this years Featherstone SSP Cricket Competition. It was a hot day but we were excited to compete as felt we had a team that could play some great cricket today.

We were drawn in a group with Lady Margaret and Dairy Meadow and Lady Margaret first. We won the toss and opted to bat first and played some confident shots to set a score of 285. On the field, we took a number of wickets and kept Lady Margaret's score low as they finished on 215.

Going into our second game against Dairy Meadow we knew a win would see us through to the quarter finals. We won the toss and bat first again. We found a few boundaries and scored 267. In our fielding innings we improved again as we bowled and wickets and made some excellent catches. Great play kept Dairy Meadow scoring high and they finished on 203.

We won the group and drew Oaklands in the quarter finals. Again, we opted to bat first and possibly played our best batting innings of the day as we hit multiple boundaries and ran singles whenever they were available. We set our biggest score of the day, 323, which we knew would be tough to beat if we bowled as well as we had been. Oaklands were  good in bat but only managed 241.

St. Mark's were our opponents in the semi finals and again we were due to bat first. St. Mark's played well and took a good few wickets from us as we maybe searched for the boundary on too many balls. We set our lowest score of the day, 233 which was definitely a beatable score. We composed ourselves before going out to field though and started strong as we took some early wickets. It was nervy innings but we were over the moon when St. Mark's finished on 220.

Little Ealing were waiting for us in the final where we lost our first toss of the day as they opted to bat first. Our bowling was accurate, our focus was strong and we played with determination. All this resulted in Little Ealing finishing their innings on 201. Going into our batting innings we just had to be sensible and pick our shots and trophy was ours. We did just that and even hit a 6 in our final ball to finish on 282 runs.

The boys were ecstatic as they lifted the trophy to be crowned to Ealing champions and have now qualified for West London Finals. A huge well done to our whole team today!

  • Fielding runners up in NFL Flag Football Regionals

Thu 16 Jun 2022 Dan Thomas

On Tuesday, Fielding took the Year 5&6 NFL team to Spikes Bridge to compete in this years NFL London Regionals Competition. There were 12 teams competing for the chance to represent London at the NFL Nationals later in June and after a half term learning our plays we felt we were in with a good chance.

The teams hard work in training and studying of their plays paid off as they brushed past a number of schools in the early rounds of the competition. As the games went on our confidence grew and we eventually made it all the way to the final where we due to play against Little Ealing. We were excited to find out that as the London Regionals was one of the biggest regional competitions in the country, both finalists had already qualified for Nationals but we still wanted the win. It was a tough game which saw us concede our first touchdowns of the day as we lost 3-1.

We played some great flag football today and are now very excited to represent London in the Nationals at Loughborough University.
