  • Health Care Plans and Accident Reporting coming to Laser

    Thu 21 Apr 2016

We are further developing our use of Laser to include health, medical and accident information.

You should all now be familiar with some of the functions of our Laser System, many of you have been using it to book Childcare and Specialist Clubs and most recently your parent consultation appointments.

We are moving from paper based Health Care Plans to on-line forms that can be updated termly. This information will be stored on Laser so that it can be accessed by any member of school or club staff. This will ensure that information is communicated and updated regularly. Health Care Plans will also be linked to our new online Minor Accident Reporting (M.A.R.S) system. All accidents, even minor bumps and scratches will be recorded on this system. If your child has an accident at school, you will receive this information as an e-mail by the end of the school day. If we feel the accident or injury is significant and requires medical attention you will receive a phone call before you receive a M.A.R.S notification email.

What do you need to do?

From Tuesday 26th April you  need to update the Health Care Section of your child’s Laser account. Please log onto your school Laser account and select ‘School Forms’, you will be directed to the Health Care Plan. Please complete for each of your children, even if your child does not have a medical or health care need. You will be required to digitally sign this form each term to confirm it is up-to-date with the most recent information. Health Care forms should be completed by Friday 6th May.

  • How do we communicate?

    Thu 21 Apr 2016

Currently we have five main methods of communication

As discussed at our 'Focus on Fielding' parent information sessions yesterday we are reviewing our systems of communication.  The image below shows the ways we communicate currently.

Our main method is through the 'Parents and Carers' tab on our website. You should find all the information you need on the Year Group Noticeboards and in the Latest News and  Letters sections. Our aim is for our 'Year Group Noticeboards' to be our one stop shop for curriculum information, events and letters - we are working towards this.

Our second method of communication is parentmail, we use this for individual and small group messages as well as payment for trips and music lessons and publishing the Fielding Bulletin. This term we are planning to move trips and all payments to Laser so that you have one log-on for all events including online consent forms. Please keep reading the latest news for updates on this.

We also use social media, twitter and Facebook for updates and reminders.

The Governing Body will be carrying out a survey this term to find out a little more about how our current systems could be adapted and  would like to invite any parents who have particular expertise in this area to volunteer to work with them on a short project looking at communication. If this is you please email your interest to admin@fielding.ealing.sch.uk.

  • Year 3

    Wed 20 Apr 2016

In Year 3 this week we have begun our new topic on the Ancient Greeks. Our Fielding Challenge Curriculum question for our new topic is ‘Has Greece always been in the news?’ The children have started by discussing and showing all their current knowledge of Greece both in the past and now. Our learning in English has been linked into our new topic with our writing outcome with the children aiming to create and write their own Greek Myth. The Year 3 children have investigated some Greek Myths to identify the features that need to be included. They have then produced a plan and an AFL in order to show off what they are already able to produce. We have then reflected on our work so far, highlighting features of a Greek Myth that we have been successful with and those parts that we need to focus on and improve. Mrs Oliver commented, ‘It is always nice for the children to have the opportunity to reflect on their learning and identify their own next steps.’

  • Year 6 Trip to the British Museum

    Wed 20 Apr 2016 Miss L Drage

Year 6 took a day off from all the hard working they have been doing this year to have a fun and educational day out at the British Museum.

The pupils spent the morning exploring the museum’s exhibitions, displays and artefacts. They pupils were even allowed to handle a few of the artefacts on display, some of which were thousands of years old.

After picnicking in Russell Square for lunch, the pupils returned to the museum where the afternoon was spent watching a film all about the Vikings, a topic the pupils already knew a lot about from their Term 1 Learning Challenge Curriculum –Where the Vikings always vicious and victorious?

Overall, the day was a huge success and the behaviour of the children was outstanding.
