  • Frogwatch

Fri 05 Feb 2021 Ellie Lock
It's Frogwatch time - who will be the first to find frogspawn? This time last year we found a huge clump of jelly eggs in the long jump pit. But it's not just the Fielding Frogs who are busy at this time of year. Keep an eye out in ponds or puddles and let us know if you spot any. More details here
  • So proud, Rio and Noah show Fielding values by raising money for the NHS

Thu 04 Feb 2021 Clare Haines

It's so lovely to hear positive news at the moment, so when I received an email from a parent this morning I thought it would be lovely to share it with you.

Since the beginning of this lockdown brothers Rio and Noah have been using their daily exercise to raise money for the NHS Imperial Health Trust. They have set themselves a £500 target, which they are very close to raising. They have even managed to appear in the Ealing Today news.

We are so proud of them for showing the values of empathy and perseverance, because even when they would rather stay at home and watch TV, they still go out for a run!

Rio and Noah we are proud of you!

  • PTFA Secondhand Uniform

    Thu 04 Feb 2021

The sale of secondhand uniforms is always a big fundraising stall for the PTFA at both the Christmas Fair and Summer Fair - nearly £2,000 in any given year.  Sadly, with Covid, we haven't managed to take advantage of this revenue stream yet.  However, we are currently investigating an online shop that will work efficiently for the PTFA.

If you have any secondhand uniform, then we would ask that you keep hold of it for the time being.  If you need to clear it out quickly then by all means use the Fielding Parents and Carers Facebook group and consider donating the money via our PTFA PayPal Charity Giving site (https://www.paypal.com/uk/fundraiser/charity/2443415)

  • PTFA: Fundraising Update & Discussions

    Thu 04 Feb 2021

Thank you to those parents who managed to attend one of the two PTFA meetings held on Monday (1 Feb).  As an update, we have managed to raise £12,800 this academic year - a fantastic achievement thus far but still a long way to go.  Nearly £8,000 of this came from Christmas related activities, £2.500 from Apple Donations and nearly £1,500 from employer donations amongst the various activities - so every little bit helps.  Overall we need to raise £28,000.

In the coming months we hope to have a raft of activities including a Virtual Balloon Race, Personalised Year Group Tea Towels, Music Bingo Night, Egg Decorating Competition and a Secret Gift Shop.  We have also started discussions around activities in the Summer term including a Virtual Race Night (Horse Racing), Summer Fair options, Chicken Poop Bingo, Dancathon and Summer Picnic. If you can help with any of these please email fieldingptfaevents@gmail.com.

  • Confirmed case of COVID-19 in Reception Group 2 (Miss O'Neil)

Wed 03 Feb 2021 Peter Dunmall

We have been advised by Public Health England of a confirmed case of COVID-19 within our Reception, Group 2 class bubble taught by Miss O'Neil. A pupil has tested positive. We wish them well.

Symptoms included a runny nose. Whilst the official list of symptoms remains unchanged, parents of children are reporting a wider range of milder symptoms in their children before getting a positive test result for coronavirus. We urge you to be extra-cautious, trust your judgement and act on a change in health.

Children in Reception Group 2 need to stay at home and self-isolate. The last day of self-isolation is Thursday 11 February. Pupils may return to school on Friday 12 February.

We will switch to remote learning at home for children who have been asked to self-isolate.

Close contacts have been identified and contacted by email today. This includes:

    • children who attended Reception Group 2 on Monday.
    • staff members who were in close contact.

We know that you may find this worrying but we are continuing to monitor the situation. We are working with Public Health England, following their requirements for schools and have informed the local authority.

  • Please help stop the spread of coronavirus -what does it mean if your child has been asked to self-isolate?

Tue 02 Feb 2021 Clare Haines

If your child is told to self-isolate by school this is because someone in their class bubble has tested positive for coronavirus. They have been identified as a close contact and it has been reported to Public Health England and the Local Authority. Being a 'close contact' means they might have caught coronavirus (COVID-19) because they have been with a child or adult in school who has COVID-19.

    What does self-isolation mean?

To stop the spread of infection it is important that your child follows the following rules:

    • self-isolate immediately
    • do not leave home for any reason, including walking with a sibling to school
    • minimise contact with anyone they live with as much as possible

Other people they live with and anyone in your support bubble do not need to self-isolate, unless they show symptoms.

A child's self-isolation period includes the day they were last in contact with the person who tested positive and the next 10 full days.

Read about how to avoid spreading coronavirus to people you live with.

If your child gets symptoms of coronavirus

Organise for your child to have a test as soon as possible if they show the following symptoms

    • a high temperature,
    • a new, continuous cough
    • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
    • in school, children who have tested positive have also had symptoms of a runny nose and sore throat. Whilst these symptoms are not 'official' please be mindful of any change in your child's health and be extra cautious.

If your child gets symptoms everyone in your household must self-isolate until they have been tested and received the result.

  • Confirmed case of COVID-19 in Reception Group 1 (Miss Karim)

Tue 02 Feb 2021 Clare Haines

We have been advised by Public Health England of an additional confirmed case of COVID-19 within our Reception, Group 1 class bubble taught by Miss Karim.

A pupil has tested positive. Symptoms are reported to be mild.

If your child has any symptoms, including mild ones please arrange a test.

Children in our Reception, Group 2 class bubble taught by Mrs O'Neil are not affected because our Reception is split into 2 separate containment bubbles. Reception remains open to these pupils.

Children in Reception Group 1 need to stay at home and self-isolate. The last day of self-isolation is Monday 8 February. Pupils may return to school on Tuesday 9 February. This means these pupils should not leave the house for any reason.

There are no further close contacts.

We know that you may find this worrying but we are continuing to monitor the situation. We are working with Public Health England, following their requirements for schools and have informed the local authority.

  • Confirmed case of COVID-19 in Nursery Dragonflies

Tue 02 Feb 2021 Clare Haines

We have been advised by Public Health England of a further confirmed case of COVID-19 within our Nursery Dragonflies class bubble.  Symptoms reported are mild.

If your child is in the Dragonfly class and has mild symptoms please arrange a test.

1 further pupil who is not already isolating has been identified as a close contact.

We are able to remain open for Ladybirds and the rest of Dragonfly pupils as our staff now test twice weekly, this reduces the number of staff who need to self-isolate.

We know that you may find this worrying but we are continuing to monitor the situation. We are working with Public Health England, following their requirements for schools and have informed the local authority
